"Hang on for this completely unexpected hard-hitting ride!" (Fresh Fiction)
Not needing him won’t stop her from wanting him....
Trucker Sterling (Star) Parson is no stranger to the challenges a woman faces, both in her industry and in life. But she can take care of herself. She’s never needed - or wanted - a man around...until she meets Cade McKenzie. The take-charge bar owner sets off all kinds of alarm bells for Sterling, but he also sets her heart racing.
Cade’s lived in Ridge Trail long enough to know trouble when he sees it, and the moment Sterling - Star - walks into his bar, he knows trouble’s come to call. Secrets run deep in the small town, and Cade can tell Star’s got as many as he does, leaving him itching to uncover every last one. But finding common ground will mean trusting one another, further feeding an intense attraction that’s growing impossible to resist.
Don't miss The Honeymoon Cottage, an all-new romantic family saga by Lori Foster where locals of a quirky small town help an on-the-shelf wedding planner find her own happily-ever-after.

The unfortunate parts of this book are the lack of consequences for the actions of the main characters. Some of the situations and actions of the main characters make them almost as villainous as the actual villains. I know it's a story, however dealing with actual victims of human trafficking, intimate partner violence, and sexual assault as my "9-5" made this book difficult to read. I'm all for victims becoming survivors, but there is surviving at any cost and there is doing bad things in the name of good. The book took the H/h down a dark path and muddied the waters.
I voluntarily read an Advance Reader Copy for my honest review.
Star's character arc from loner and avenger of woman had me applaud her courage but she really need Cade to recover and become who she was meant to be, still the avenger at a higher skill level.
I can't wait to read Reyes story and hope Ms. Foster even gives Parrish his own story. So many layers to all of these characters and definitely needs to be on your to be read list.
Cade and Star fall in love with each other and Star heals with Cades help. A must read. If you read the Men Who Walk The Edge Of Honor books Dare , Trace, Savor the Danger, Spencer you will Love Lori Foster new Series. Awesomely Good. !

Star/Sterling is a truck driver that appears in Cade’s bar every so often, she orders a drink and falls asleep for an hour or two. Cade makes sure that she isn’t disturbed while she sleeps. After a while he starts talking to her and gradually she opens up to him. Cade protects her when she really stupidly, offers to go to a human traffickers house, as she recognises that’s what are they are, and thinks she can, I’ve no idea what she was doing, or what she hoped to achieve!!!!
When she is injured, Cade moves in with her, to look after her. And of course they start having sex. They realise that they are both doing the same thing, and start to work together. After Cade gets permission off his daddy! Cade, Rheyes (?) and his sister Madison are all totally under their fathers control and don’t do anything without his permission! It’s weird as Cade is the ex army ranger and has a lot of experience, that his dad as a surgeon doesn’t!!!
Too many plot holes.
Why does Sterling go to his pub for a sleep when she lives down the road? And are we to believe that she only sleeps two hours a day??? As she herself says she doesn’t feel safe at the truck stops!
Why is Cade taking orders from his dad? He’s the ex army ranger, who is really experienced, his dad is a surgeon, who has no experience with fighting!
Cade’s dad tells Sterling about a tactical team that he employs. Okay, brilliant. Where are they? They’re never mentioned once! Cade is the one that does all the fighting, with help from his brother.
Lastly, I really struggled with Sterling. As she has been sex trafficked herself, she doesn’t like people touching her, in anyway. Okay fair enough. So a few pages in and she’s jumping on Cade and having sex!!!???? Erm no!
Sorry. This book isn’t well thought out and the plots are ludicrous!
