I read each of these books as advanced reader copies as they were released. Here are my reviews.
Wicked Noble
Onyx is a half-fae girl who is sold out by her own mother and sent to the Nocturnal Academy where her kind is fodder for the Vampire elites who attend and teach there. She thinks she has a way to escape the inescapable school, but things are not going to go her way, at all.
Onyx is a great heroine who tries to do the right thing for others. I hope to catch up with her in her next book.
Cruel Elites
I read the book 1 to this series and was hooked. The first book is really good. Onyx is a half Fae who just discovered that she is not without magic as she had thought. Unfortunately, she found out by committing murder with her power. When one of the vampire guards finds her with the body she is sure she is done for, but Thorsten helps her instead of throwing her into the dungeon. As the vamps and Fae show up at the Academy to start the school year, Onyx is given a new roomie. Since she is partially responsible for what happened to the last one, she is determined to keep a distance from Lily. This turns out to be impossible as the weak Fae girl is just as determined to be her friend. Lord knows Onyx needs friends. Find out what happens when a half Fae girl with an attitude takes on a school full of mean, stuck-up vampires. With the help of a couple of friends and one confusing vampire she just might make it through her Placement Trials, maybe.
Vicious Royals
Make sure you read the previous books before diving into this one. (There is also a sort of pre-prequel, but if you don't read that one you won't miss any major events.) Onyx is getting closer to the day where her contract will be purchased by a vampire who will use her as a courtesan bloodbank. Meanwhile, she still has to avoid getting bitten by teenage vamps, manage not to freeze up any mean girls, and keep her accidental murder of a Fae from being discovered. She also needs to figure out what is going on between her and Thorsten. When a sadist vampire prince promises he will buy her contract she adds "find a way to finally escape this he**" to her to-do list. Great ending. Looking forward to the next one.
Savage Monarchs
Onyx has gotten away from the Academy and managed to escape Vulthus' not so loving embrace but she may have gone from the frying pan into the fire. Now she has a Fae king claiming to be her father. So where has dear old dad been for the last eighteen years? Well, that is a long story but apparently she is the only surviving child of the King of the Winter court. This sounds nice, right? But Onyx knows that nothing comes without a price. In this case she is willing to pay it to get her chance to kill Vulthus. In the end she may come to regret her choice when Thorsten comes back into her life and she once again has something to lose.
