My 12 year old and all of his (boy and girl) friends LOVED this!

Well, what can I say. "It is what it is." How the heck Eddie Murphy got away with this (or did he?) is a mystery. It's purely juvenile. And yes, at times, I found myself laughing out loud. All in all, though, it's really not worth "the investment" for any mature adult. I didn't feel satisfied that it was a complete (or even legitimate) movie. If you "let" your (older) kid watch this level of "insult comedy," they will likely laugh throughout the insanity. I remember what Chris Farley used to say about why people loved his comedy. It's "Fat Guy Falling." And so, if you love "Fat Black Lady Falling/Farting/etc." then this movie is for you. Of course, Eddie is neither fat nor a how why was this all okay? Well, I'm not a "snowflake" and I couldn't care less. just know what you're getting into and stay away if you're easily offended.

Funny from the opening scene

Norbit is funny from the opening scene. Eddie Murphy plays an orphan who is dropped off at a Chinese restaurant that raises him. He plays his own dad Mr. Wong who at one point takes a duck Norbit is playing with, kills it to cook it for dinner and then throws the head telling him to play with that. The story is about Norbit looking for true love.

The movie is a mix of physical comedy with Norbit being thrown all around by his wife Rasputia, also played by Murphy, and funny situations. The cast is strong as well with Thandiew Newton as Murphy’s old flame, Cuba Gooding Jr her fiancé, Terry Crews, Clifton Powell and Lester Speight as Rasputia’s brothers who run a protection ring and construction company, Marlon Wayans as a dance instructor, and Eddie Griffin and Katt Williams as two ex-pimps. It’s really one of Murphy’s better films from his later releases.

I remember watching this some time ago and thinking it was funny guess i was wrong. Some things do not get better with age as I now find it just annoying and a mean spirited. There are a few good laughs to be had that is about it. If you like watching a man get bullied and taken advantage of for being to nice a guy, then maybe this one is a laugh for you. Just not a movie i can get into and "I REALLY LIKE" Eddie Murphy movies ALOT!

I never pass up the chance to watch Norbit. I watch this movie like I never seen it before and it’s still funny as the first time.

Love this movie

I have purchased this movie three different times, once on dvd, once on blue ray, and most recently here. It is hilarious. Anyone that appreciates the amount of effort Eddie Murphy puts into his characters will like this work. The latest purchase stemmed from a recollection during a conversation that cracked me up. It took me two days to remember it was from this film but as soon as I did, the purchase was a no brainer.

This is actually one of Eddie Murphy’s best comedies. It funny from beginning to end. Although some of the jokes are too sensitive for today’s society. I brought the video to hear the jokes over and over again. My kids love it too. It’s not for everybody so if you’re super sensitive to race and stereotypical jokes…this is not the movie for you!
