Who says Nuns aren't Evil?

I am a HUGE fan of Horror and there is just about nothing that won't watch in the name of horror. I have seen the most popular, the biggest budgets all the way down to the bargain bin, low budget films and there are so many that are good, bad and in between and A Nun's Curse really surprised me. I wasn't familiar with anyone in the cast other than Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp) and I have to say that I was quite impressed with each of the performances of the mostly unknown cast. The Director/Producer did a fantastic job selecting filming locations and I felt that in addition to the interesting story line, the musical score, makeup and FX were all very well done. With the days that we've been having with the coronavirus and the times being uncertain, it's nice to be able to suspend time and belief and watch a film that was carefully crafted and that clearly, everyone tried to make both believable and fun! I say be open to this one and give it a try and enjoy!

So, clearly this is a super-low-budget film... and it fails in many regards, but it had a handful of "o...k..." elements...

Camera work - I'm actually giving "ok" marks here... no shakey cam. some decently framed and edited work... no masterpiece by any means, but better than a lot of low-budget
Audio - needs help... a lot of help. Most of the dialogue was very quiet ( I had to turn on subtitles ), while at the same time the screams and loud jump music were VERY loud, and at some times were recorded so loud that there was mild peaking...
Plot - meh... nothing new... no major twists... 4 kids end up in a haunted prison...
Acting - While most of the acting was pretty poor, it actually seemed like these guys took at least "some" time to review their script and lines... and actually some of the comedic lines weren't written half badly...
Special Effects - The Nun looked a little bit freaky I guess... All but one of the kill scenes were essentially off-camera with some fake blood splattered about... I've seen worse, but that's not saying much...

All in all, this is a low-budget flick, that was likely shot in the span of 1-2 days... It wasn't particularly scary or suspenseful ( in fact, the entire 1st half of the movie was slow ), but I made it through the whole thing...

I'm neither giving a recommend to watch nor an avoid at all costs on this one... If you are really bored, and don't mind B ( or C ) rate flicks, theoretically you could do worse... 2 Stars from me... I certainly will not bother watching again...

WHAT A TERRIFYING FILM AND VIOLENT
Verified purchase
THIS IS NOT REALLY A RELIGIOUSLY DEEP FILM. THERE IS A VICIOUS NUN BUT THAT IS ALL THE PIOUSNESS. AS ALWAYS, AND I LIKED THE FILM A LOT, A GROUP OF EARLY TWENTYISH FRIENDS, GO HIKING AND CAMPING. WHEN THEY ARE VERY FAR FROM THEIR CAR AND A TERRIBLE STORM IS COMING, ONE GIRL, A PHOTOGRAPHER, REMEMBERS A CHURCH NEARBY WITH MANY LEGENDS, BUT SHE LOVES TO TAKE PICTURES, SO THE GROUP IS TALKED INTO IT. BUT, SHE IS ALSO REMEMBERING TORTURES AND ATROCITIES COMMITTED BY THE INFAMOUS.......SISTER MONDAY..........NEVER HESITATING ONWARD WITH THEIR SOJOURN, THE STORM ARRIVES AND THEY ARE IN A HORRIFIC PLACE. ONE BY ONE BODIES DISAPPEAR, OTHERS EXPLODE, HEADS IMPLODE, AND SO MUCH MORE FUN . I SAID THIS IS NOT RELIGIOUS BUT IT IS VIOLENT. ALTHOUGH SISTER MONDAY NEEDS A DENTIST, SHE STILL IS TERRIFYING AND UNUSUAL, EGREGIOUS EVENTS OCCUR. AS THE DENOUEMENT, I.E. UNRAVELING ARRIVES, YOU WILL HAVE THE FINAL CONCLUSIVE FINALE IN ALL ITS GLORY. BE SURE TO WAIT FOR THE FINAL LOUD TWIST OF AN ENDING. ENJOY THIS MOVIE AND IGNORE THE SIMPLISTIC REVIEWS. MOVIES ARE FOR HAVING A GOOD TIME, RIGHT. ALSO THE MUSIC 🎵 IS GREAT.

Felissa Rosa is a Beautiful Woman & a Great & Talented Actress ; But She’s One Nasty Nun !

Felissa Rose gives a Scholarly Performance as ‘Sister Monday’ , a Self-Righteous Religious Zealot who took the Laws of God & Man into Her Own Hands & Delivered Her Punishments Judiciously ! Now , Over 70 Years Later , She may have Returned to Continue Her Onslaught !
The Star of the Film is the Lovely Erika Edwards playing the Studious & Macabre Minded ‘Ashley-Kat’ , who’s especially obsessed with Tales of Sister Monday . Her Spiteful & Vindictive Sister ‘Gabby’ , who seems to have been Born with a Silver Spoon in Her Mouth is portrayed by the Glamorously Gorgeous Kristi Ray , who is reminiscent of a Young Traci Lords , Body & All !
Damien Maffei is Gabby’s Rude Sex-Hungry Boy-friend ‘Anthony’ & Gunner Willis is the Nerdy Psych-Student ‘Michael’ . Adorable Ashley-Kae Luker is the ‘Young Ashley-Kae’ & Jason Vail is The ‘Father’ .
There’s plenty of Blood , Killings , & a Dismemberment Thrown in for Kicks . The Story’s told trough Real-Time & Flashbacks so Don’t let your mind wander or Sister Monday may Sneak-Up on You !

So many horror movie cliches.... 👎

I really don't know where to start. They should have focused more on the back story and less on the feud between the two sisters. Their little feud added nothing to the story. The acting was good enough I suppose. What I find completely cliche and overused is the whole "there's a thunderstorm coming so we should go to the haunted prison that's conveniently located nearby." Are you telling me that they couldn't come up with something better than that? Like maybe the sisters make a deal. They all explore the prison and in exchange, they go directly to the cabin afterwards. If that wasn't bad enough, they couldn't even be bothered to add in a little CGI to at least make it look like there's a storm coming. Nope. Pretty blue sky with very few clouds. Brilliant. The ending was crap. Like they couldn't figure out which cliche they wanted to use so they used more than one. First, it was the ghost of Sister Monday doing everything but that's boring so "weird" little sister really killed them all but wait.... Nope, it was just a dream.

I love cheesy horror, but this one would be more of a Limburger - a bit stinky. I actually fell asleep about halfway in and had to watch the end. if you are going to watch this one, be sure to rent, not buy.

NUN STARS FOR YOU, NUN!!!

. Would rate it 0 i could. Low budget, terrible dialogue, terrible acting, one guessable but decent plot twist. That was ruined by another plot twist in the last two minutes of the movies. NO STARS. Before the last twist, I'd have given it a 2 star review. Watch if you want a good laugh and to angry at bad acting.
