I suspect the "The Original" is simply their brand name of a gold colored coffee filter to make you believe that this is a genuine Gold Tone filter. It is not. The gold color fades quickly leaving a light tan color; my genuine Gold Tone filter is still gold after a year of daily use. The 8-10 cup designation leans heavily to the 8 cup side. Do not use this in a Breville Grind Control coffee maker, because the grinds will overflow if you make a carafe of more than 20 oz. of coffee. This filter is smaller than the one that came with my Breville. I recommend buying your "Genuine" Gold Tone filter from the Breville website, since I can't seem to find one here on Amazon.
The nice thing about buying the item on Amazon is that you can read the reviews then choose the product that will fit your style. Since the last basket was purchased in a store, we didn't have a choice on which brand to purchase.
We also use a paper filter in the basket which filters the fine particles out of the coffee. We use artesian well water for brewing instead of our own well water. The coffee is second to none in great taste and smell and looks silky smooth. The basket handle is also very useful for lifting the grounds out of the pot without burning your hand.
The text of the description of the product includes a line item that reads "Five-year limited warranty". In my case, I checked on returning the item to Amazon, but could not because it had been more than 30 days. Next I went to the seller's page on Amazon and clicked on their "Returns and Refunds" tab which led me to a statement "Please refer to the Amazon.com Return Policy." So, it appears that their "Five-year limited warranty" is so-much window dressing intended to encourage your purchase of their inferior purchase without any real recourse. I expect better from Amazon!
Another observation is that while the photos of this product (and the appearance of the original filter in my Breville) show a smooth surface of the filter media, the filter received is noticeably wrinkled. This does not affect its filtering ability, but is a reflection on the inferior manufacturing quality.

It still fits fairly well on my Honeywell coffee-maker.
