From the creators of the gorgeous bestseller The Night Gardener comes a stunning new picture book about a young boy who sets sail to find a place his grandfather told him about…the spot where the ocean meets the sky.
It’s a good day for sailing.
Finn lives by the sea and the sea lives by him. Every time he looks out his window it’s a constant reminder of the stories his grandfather told him about the place where the ocean meets the sky. Where whales and jellyfish soar and birds and castles float.
Finn’s grandfather is gone now but Finn knows the perfect way to honor him. He’ll build his own ship and sail out to find this magical place himself!
And when he arrives, maybe, just maybe, he’ll find something he didn’t know he was looking for.

The intricate illustration describes deep mutual love between grandpa and the grandson, and the gentle grandeur of ocean creatures. The gaze of blue whale, the moon light that penetrates jellyfish....
There are many unforgettable moments in this book.
Great for children and the adults who loved ocean and the sky a lot when you were a child.

Since the moment I saw this book on Amazon and it's all I've been thinking about, I LOVE the sky and the sea/ocean, and ships... now that I have it in my hands, I can't believe how beautiful it is.

What follows is mystical and transcendental, with magical full spread illustrations. Finn and the fish visit the Library Islands where birds wear top hats, an island of truly giant shells, a sea full of dancing jellyfish, and then they are there. Whales, ships, hot air balloons... It is truly a place of wonder and awe. Finn sees his grandpa in the moon and manages to say goodbye before a voice calls him from the distance and he wakes up in his boat in the garden just in time to have grandpa's dumplings for tea.
This is a gorgeous, fantastical story of the enduring bond of a child and his grandfather and a dreamy glimpse of what might lay beyond.

For younger readers this story is a charming bedtime fable which rewards repeated readings. For older children it is a touching meditation on memory, bereavement and love.

Excellent quality, thick pages and nothing much beats the new book smell.
