When Leigh Roberts is not caught up in the fantasy world of Etera with Adia, Khon'Tor, Acaraho, Oh’Dar, and Nadiwani, she is enjoying the beauty of the rural area in which she lives with her husband and several spoiled Pomeranians.

An avid reader since early childhood, she grew up on superhero comics, science fiction stories (Arthur C. Clarke, Isaac Asimov), and television shows like The Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits, and Star Trek.

Star Trek had a huge influence on her thinking and taught her the infinite possibilities of imagination—and how to split infinitives. Spoiler alert: you may find a Klingon word or phrase dropped in here or there, or a blatant, unapologetic recreation of a famous Star Trek TOS scene!

She hopes that through her writing, awareness of Sasquatch will spread, ultimately providing protection should they be proven to exist.

She loves being an author, and her heart’s desire is to be writing for a long, long time to come. Following Series One: Wrak-Ayya The Age of Shadows, will come Wrak-Wavara The Age of Darkness and then Wrak-Ashwea The Age of Light.

I have read all of these books and I've been unable to put them down. The author has the knack to make the characters to come alive and she makes you feel like your right there with the characters. Once you read one of her books you can not stop until you have read them all.

Awkward mixture of time periods

While the original story line about the cave dwellers and their primitive lives was interesting, the setting morphed unbelievably into a seeming late 18th Century sort of period, complete with modern towns, horse-drawn vehicles and a societal structure quite different from the original one. To imagine that primitive cultures ever existed just 6 weeks walk away from modern life is preposterous! While the story is fantasy originally set in a pre-historic world , there are many inconsistencies. For example, there is never a reference to the need nor use of fire in the cave system that must have been extremely cold year round. In addition, since the entire cave setting was almost void of wood or wood products, the sequences about sitting at a "table" to take meals is difficult to conjure. Rock slabs large enough to serve so many people as tables would weigh many tons.

Nevertheless, I am drawn to the story, and I am enjoying the unusual dual settings, however impossible. I'm about to begin the 4th book with the hope that some of my curiosity will be rewarded. So I'm guessing that I enjoy these books well enough. Caution folks, this is not intended to be literature. It is imaginative story-telling with some improbable plot lines.

Not since Jean Auel's Earth's Children series have I been as vested in the characters and storyline as I am in Leigh Roberts Wrak-Ayya: The Age of Shadows. Encompassing a world of long-lost fictional (maybe) humans and the modern human civilization of that time, there is enough to keep me wanting more. Thankfully Leigh Roberts is a prolific teller of compelling tales.

The story continues down a path that I hadn’t expected, starting some 16 years following the previous book and almost exclusively follows Oh Dar, who leaves Kathma to trace his roots and find out where he came from. What follows is an insightful adventure, and the story of how he came to be abandoned as a baby unfolds. I was sad when he left kathma as I wasn’t ready to abandon Adia and Aacharo but the author maintained the connection with the People, running the two stories in parallel so my connection to the story was maintained. The book ended with closure but also with a sense of anticipation. It feels as though the two worlds are cleverly converging and I can’t wait to find out what happens next in book 4.

I'm rooting for Oh'Dar! I felt so sad for him when he realized he didn't belong with the People, yet I didn't want him to leave. But then going on his quest with him and seeing his new world through his eyes...was amazing! I was right there discovering his new world as he did, seeing what he saw, feeling what he felt. I can't wait to see where he goes next and what he does. And I can't help but wonder if he will see Adia again. Somehow, I feel the worlds will collide--and I'm rooting for Oh'Dar! Roberts knows how to weave a good tale that leaves you wanting more--I am hooked!
