About the Author

Henry Cole was an adored elementary-school science teacher for sixteen years. He has since illustrated over 150 popular books (some of which he has also authored), including his wordless, award-winning picture book Unspoken, which was named an ALA Notable Children’s Book and a New York Times Best Illustrated Children’s Book, and his book One Little Bag: An Amazing Journey, which was also named an ALA Notable, and received three starred reviews. This book was more complex than I was anticipating. I had to read it multiple times to truly understand the theme of this book. I always love wordless picture books for this reason. They can be more detailed and nuanced than a book with words. This story follows a paper bag through generations through a family. Challenging its readers to forgo single use bags and make them last until the can't be taped or stapled back together. Besides the story of the bag, this is also the story of life, family, and the passing of time. Beautifully illustrated!
