New York Times best-selling author Corinne Michaels brings a new endearing friends-to-lovers story to life in the third standalone in the Arrowood Brothers series.
Devney Maxwell has been my best friend since we were 6 years old, but she has no idea I’m in love with her.
Even when I’m on the road playing professional baseball, she’s my home - the only one I’ve ever known. But when I return to Sugarloaf to care for the family farm, I discover she’s trying to talk herself into a life with the wrong man...and I become desperate.
It only takes a single, perfect kiss to change everything.
I have six months to get it right with Devney - to convince her to leave this town and turn that kiss into forever.
I aim to do just that as I spend my days coaching her nephew’s baseball team, fixing up the farm, and loving her with all I have. Finally, it seems like our relationship is secure and we’ll find a way to make it work.
Then tragedy strikes...changing her life forever. She’s needed here more than ever, but as for me - there’s no way I can stay.
I know she’s the one for me, but I might have to let her go....

This best friends to lovers story is beautiful romance that definitely packs an emotional punch, bringing me tears yet filled with plenty of laughter and that happy feeling that I crave in my romances. The love Sean and Devney share with each other just felt so right. They have experienced so much together throughout their lives and those shared moments bonded them from a young age and make them able to tackle any tragedy life throws their way. Yet transitioning from friends to lovers is not without some bumps in the road, especially with the secrets that lie between them. With Sean’s life as a baseball superstar and Devney’s love of her small town life, a love between them will take work but is certainly worth the journey to get there.
“I’ll wait for your heart to be ready because mine is ready enough for the both of us.”
The heartache and the fear of losing each other as best friends if a relationship between them failed really had my emotions all over the place. They had been best friends for over 20 years, so you’d think they know everything about each other, but some secrets were still between them. Devney is carrying a long buried secret that keeps her tied to Sugarloaf and the thought of leaving terrifies her. My heart ached over her long carried guilt and shame, I felt lighter once all was revealed, like my heart sighed with her trusting Sean with everything she had endured. She is such a strong woman yet opening herself fully to a kind, sweet and caring man like Sean to love her with no boundaries cemented my love for this couple. The passion they have with each other brings the steam, Sean is a man who knows how to make a woman feel cherished in the bedroom.
“Sean is home. He’s comfort and the sunshine that breaks through the clouds. He’s laughter in the rain and the constant in a sea of uncertainty. I’ve never had to wonder where I stand with him.”
And let me tell you - Sean Arrowood absolutely stole my heart and had me swooning over his charm from the get go. Some characters just make you wish they were real and the brothers in this series certainly make it tough for a girl to chose her favorite. Sean is a sweet, charming and stand up man, a truly dreamy hunk, with the cover model being the PERFECT visual.
“You don’t have to have me as a dream, Devney. I’m the reality, and I’m willing to give you everything.”
Well, Corinne Michaels has hit a homerun again! She is the queen of emotional romance, and this one strikes you directly in the feels! This is the third book in the Arrowood Brothers series. Each book is a standalone, but I would recommend the entire series because they’ve all been terrific. This is Sean’s book and his best friend, Devney. Sean was so easy to love. He’s driven, kind, sweet, and swoon worthy. Devney was a little harder to get a read on. She kept things tightly shut and had a lot of secrets, that I felt like you really couldn’t know her for most of the book. Sean and Devney have been best friends since childhood but never acted on their feelings for each other for fear of ruining their friendship. But, man, when they did, it was amazing! These two were so great together, but then a major tragedy strikes. I was totally surprised by this turn of events and sobbed through it all. It’s a beautiful, emotional, friends to lovers romance in the most incredible series. You need to read this one and really all books in this series!
*I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
"You're so beautiful. I could do nothing but look at you all day and find something new that I find perfect."
"I'm not perfect."
"You are for me."
While they may have always been best friends, Devney never stood a chance once Sean put his mind to winning her heart but I understood her reticence. There were so many factors that went into her decision making and my heart just hurt for her. Okay, that's a lie. I was gutted but Sean was such a beautiful balm to my battered and broken heart. Any girl would be lucky to be the one he chooses. ❤
"You're the one who said I have to choose one or the other, Devney, and I choose you. Each time. Every day and twice on Sundays."
“I want to wake up each day with you beside me. I would make you happy, give you the world. I’ll stand by your side when you falter and when you win. There won’t be a day that you’re alone because I will always be here.”
Sean might be the brother that makes me fall the hardest. He has charm, witty banter and loves so deeply for his best friend.
If you want a small town, family saga with some true angsty emotions... pick this up. This has true Corinne Michaels angst and it’s so unbelievably good!

Both Devney and Sean are now adults but have been best friends since childhood. And family and friends always thought they would eventually marry because they were so close, to the exclusion of other's relationships. Then Devney left Sugarloaf to study and then came back and vowed she would never leave. Whilst Sean left to follow his dreams to be a superstar baseball player and vowed never to come back to live in Sugarloaf. But why? And what does fate have in store for them?
Well, it appears that they both have long held secrets that they have kept from each other. And because Sean has to come back to Sugarloaf to ensure his inheritance, their friendship will be tested. But will they realise or acknowledge their love for each other? Can friends become lovers? How will their secrets affect their awareness and attitude of each other? And what will have to change?
Now, hurry to get this book and find out...

Really enjoyed this book, and how the other brothers are still in it, so you get to catch up with them and see how they are doing . Love the banter between the brothers, it makes them so real. Sad that there’s only 1 book of this series left.

At the end of the day, Austin wanted to move to Florida to gain a fresh start. Sean’s work was in Florida. Devney worked as a legal assistant for goodness sake, yet her excuses for not going to Florida was because of Austin and creating a stable home for him. Yet the kid wanted to move.
In the end, Sean is the one coming up with solutions, and the one compromising, and the one spoiling Devney rotten and being there for her throughout. She doesn’t deserve him!!! Not even slightly! And that’s why this book is a fail for me and I wouldn’t read it again because in the end I really really disliked Devney for not trying harder to stay with Sean.

So many emotions with this one! honestly she needs to issue a whole pack of tissue with each purchase as you will need them.
Each book in this series just gets better and better. I want to say Sean is my favourite but I have a feeling Corinne is going to leave the best for last but I will say it will be close.
Oh I swooned hard for Sean in this one. He is DREAMY, he is totally devoted to Devney and that made my heart soar. They just have to overcome the obstacles placed in their way.
Of course in true Corinne fashion she has to completely break your heart before she puts it back together but that's what makes her books so good! The emotions and feelings she puts into them pour off of the pages and make you feel everyone along with the characters.
I can't wait for the next book and Jacob's story and i had better start stocking up on wine and tissues now.
