Hannah Howell spins lush, romantic stories that sparkle with intrigue and passion. Now, she gives us her most exciting novel yet: a medieval tale set on the untamed Scottish border, where a man and a woman risk their hearts on the stormy battlefield of love.
As wild as the rugged north country where she was raised, Saxan Honey Todd has sworn to avenge the murder of her twin brother. Recklessly, she gallops across the English countryside in pursuit of the man she believes to be his murderer: Botolf, Earl of Regenford.
As hard and unyielding as the armor he wears in battle, Botolf is irresistibly drawn to the impetuous beauty who has come to wage war with him. Saxan stirs his passion to the point of madness...but to love her would be madness indeed.
Now, as a desperate enemy stalks him and the greensward runs with innocent blood, Botolf brings Saxan to his castle...as his bride. But Saxan needs more: to fight by Botolf's side and triumph over the danger that surrounds them - as the beloved mistress of his very heart and soul.

The one thing that really bothers me about HH books is when H calls h a child. In this story he said “child you don’t know what you do to me” as he’s about to kiss her. I’m all for a petite character but referring to them as children bothers me. She’s done this in other books too.
What is clear to all is that an enemy continues to attempt to kill Botolf, kidnap or kill Saxan, and leaves bodies all over the area. Everyone believes it to be Botolf’s half brother and all efforts to thwart, capture or kill him fail. This story is filled with the growing lust and caring between Botolf and Saxan. Filled with interaction among families who try to support and protect each other, you’ll love the strong women of the Borderlands and you’ll love their HEA! Don’t miss this romantic adventure!

I just couldn't believe how good it was. Heck I was laughing out loud at parts and now a day later I'm trying not to pick it up and reread it.
The heroine was so smart and level headed. She was a strong fighter but out of necessity not out of the desire to prove herself. She is not pouty or petty she has a strong womanly courage that people admire.
I loved the family dynamic in this book. How fiercely they loved and protected and how proud they were of each other. It enhanced the story line immensely.
My only slight complaint was that the ending was somewhat reminiscent of the ending in Hannah Howell's "Beauty and the Beast." However, I fault her little for this because it was not overly paralleled and still allowed for a very happy ending. I wish she would write a book about Saxan's sister and the Scott!!! (If she has already and I just haven't found it please somebody tell me!! lol )
Just such a good book with such passion and I love the verbal sparring in the book.
I'm at a loss. lol I really am speechless it was so good. haha
I have actually read this book before and found even more to love about it the 2nd time around. Definitely recommend it to all those who love historical romance.
