This is what women teach kids about BEARS?!?
Verified purchase
I feel sorry for the kids---they'll grow up & have 2 learn everything they were taught was lies----or WORSE----they never learn the *TRUTH*, & 1 day they're seriously hurt----or killed. (NO, a bear is not a dog or a house-pet!)
PS & we wonder why kids are violent & do bad things--& bring guns to school!

From the moment youi first meet boog, till the end of this movie you will be laughing till the end, poor ole boog has it made until he befriends a one antler deer named elliot, no one especialy boog could ever dream of the trouble a sweet little deer could cause until he takes him to his home in the garrage where he lives, soon after the chance meeting of these two wildlife animals boogs lifestyle of a bed, snacks and espicaly a toilet are transformed to the good old backwoods, where he is teased and tormented by the wild animals until open season comes in, then things change and everyone starts to look up to boog to save them, this is a non stop laughing comady that couldnt have been done right without the help of martin lawrence who plays boog, this is a must see...

I was not sure what to expect from this movie, as we never had seen it before. It was not bad, some funny moments, but seemed to move slow at some points. We decided to buy it because it was in 3D and not many movie out yet for this new technology. The picture was Amazing!! It was a perfect picture on our TV. I saw NO ghosting the images were crisp and the depth and imagery was GREAT!! A must buy for a fan of the Blu-ray 3D movies.

Outstanding Blu-ray Title

It took a while to get past the eye-popping saturated color and mind-blowing detail of this Blu-ray disc (its that captivating) to even pay too much attention to the story. On a 70" JVC 1920 RPTV hooked up via HDMI from the new Sony sub $500 player the picture is simply superb and often stunnning. Color and detail are almost overwhelming and 3D. Definitely a good choice for showing your system off to friends.

THE STORY: True, it isn't a new formula at work here, which should be no real surprise from the mainstream media outlets these days, but it is highly entertaining. While it wouldn't win any Academy Awards for best screenplay, the story is engagingly told and voice talent keeps it fun. If you want zany and over the top buy some Jerry Lewis movies! This movie should appeal to all age groups.

THE SOUND: I'm sure my receiver is showing its age at not be able to fully decode the new formats. It will usually default to THX, which is not the best compromise. Maybe I'll update this review after I can fully evaluate the sound, but I'm sure I'm not alone in this respect.

EXTRAS: I don't really spend time with these, unless its a Klingon Diction Seminar (jk)

Buy it! Most folks will be glad they did.

Open Season

This movie is hillarious. i never laughed so hard in my life. i literally fell out of the seat laughing in the theatres twice. i highly reccomend this movie for everyone and for all ages. The hunters become the hunted. Open Season is about how the hunted animals end up hunting the hunters instead, and they need an inept city slicker bear to learn how to live in the woods to get their plan under way.

you can't go wrong buying this dvd. this movie is a must in everyone's library. the acting is great, the music is fun,and non stop comedy. warning and advise do not drink or eat food during this movie you might loose what you ate or drink from laughing. another warning laughter is contagious and might lead to more laughter. make sure you have friends, family or both together to watch this movie, that way you can laugh together. prepare to fall out of your chair or couch during this film, i know i did in the theatres.

I've had my Xbox HD-DVD player for 6 months and love it - hooked on HD movies. I was frustrated at not being able to get all the High Def movies available so I broke down and got the 100 dollar discounted PS3 as soon as the price break hit. For my first Blu-ray movie I selected Open Season, hoping I had made a good choice and felt comforted by the quality reviews I read on here (Amazon).
Sure enough the reviews were true the picture is amazing in 1080P High Def. The movie was more entertaining than I expected. With the quality of the picture and the decent animation story you certainly won't regret your purchase. I wasn't blown away by the uncompressed audio, but it also didn't disappoint - just didn't really stand out where as the picture certainly did.
I dunno if it's because this is an animated movie, but I can say that this is the best quality High Def content I've seen to date, better picture than the HD-DVD movies I've seen.

Fantastic 3D

A clever and often funny story well acted by the voice talent. On blu-ray it is in my top 10 must haves for a 3D home theater collection because of its demo worthy qualities. The depth and separation achieved is remarkable, and a great example of how 3D can visually transform a film in a deliberate and hugely positive way. There are just enough well integrated, crowd pleasing "pop out" moments thrown in to make this movie a winner even for your 3D skeptic friends.
