3.0 out of 5 starsToo much going on, but still a nice end to the series

I did enjoy this last installment in the Lux series, however, it still left much to be desired. Book 1 is my favorite, probably followed by either this or book 2. Books 3 & 4 were "meh" at best. But back to this one... Like I said, I did like it, don't get me wrong -- the story line is still interesting, and the readers still get to follow the lives (however crazy they have now become), of the characters they fell in love with in book 1. However, there is WAY too much going on in this book. Way way WAY too much. I've been trying to put my finger on what exactly bothered me about this novel, and I finally realized that it comes down to the author simply trying to do too much with the story. Although the direction of the story's "end-game" never changes, the characters are all over the place (and not necessarily in a good way) on their way there. The problem with this is that the good stuff that is in there is often either cut short or glossed over to make room for the rest. The author could have written a much tighter, cleaner story had she stuck to a few of the larger plot points (I won't mention here so I can keep this review "spoiler-free"). OR, she could have easily extended the plot points to make them richer, and spread them out over books 3 & 4; while cutting some of the more mundane content in books 3 & 4 (like I said earlier, these were "meh" at best). I also need to note that there were WAY too many typos/editorial errors, inconsistencies, and plot holes for my liking. All this being said, I would still recommend this book, because hey, it's always good to finish a series, right?
