Ordinary Snowflakes: A Rock Creek Christmas Novella Audible Audiobook – Unabridged
Someone had noticed me. A secret admirer? A man with a good heart, who saw how much I actually do need help, even though I never admit it, and how much Sydney needs someone to teach her that men can be nice - that some of them stick around, no matter how hard life gets. Maybe I knew him. Maybe he's been around for a while. Maybe this is the beginning of a beautiful story - a romance full of hope and second chances and love.
A secret Santa gift left on Kale Brennan's front porch opens up a fresh view of her ordinary life, and perhaps a fresh view of God. Maybe her ordinary life matters, maybe God sees her - as does a new, single teacher who has her seven year old daughter gushing. But as she embraces new possibilities, a staple in her life - a man who is both kind and steady, and necessary for her injured daughter's recovery - also snatches her attention in an unexpected way. Will the one pursuing her with his secret gift and kind gestures be the one her heart longs for in the end?

A new teacher comes to Sydney's school who quickly became a favorite of all the kids. And he is extremely handsome. He is interested in Kale. At first she is ecstatic about him. But then she notices Joe, Sydney's Physical therapist as well as her Dad's beside being such a good friend. But Joe hasn't made any move toward her in the five years since Sydney's accident. As Kale begins to date Craig, Joe isn't around so much. That bothers Kale a lot more than it should with her falling for Craig. She becomes more and more confused about her own feelings.
You need to read the book for yourself in order to enjoy every little bit of this delicious, sweet story.

Kale is a well-developed, sympathetic character with which most off us ordinary folks, who have made ordinary mistakes, can identify. Smart and self-deprecating, getting inside her head as she realizes God's extraordinary love for her is the perfect preparation for welcoming the Christ child as He arrives in ordinary, humble fashion.
The only thing that pulled me out of this well-crafted book was the heroine's name. I thought of the leafy greens in my fridge ever time I read it. Every time. That said, I highly recommend this Christmas novella.
Kale Brennan is not a huge fan of winter, so when she awakens to a shoveled driveway and a mysterious package on the doorstep, her single mom instincts tells her to proceed with caution. Struggling to care for her handicapped daughter, she fights the incessant voices of guilt, loneliness and despair, convincing herself that Sydney's slow progress is somehow her fault . Suddenly and very unexpectedly caught between the attention of two very different men, Kale's perspective begins to shift; shoving the "what-ifs" and the "should haves" aside long enough to wonder if expecting God to do the extraordinary has caused her to miss his quiet whispers of ordinary grace.
This beautiful story not only captures the miracle of the manger, but exemplifies the magnificence of unconditional love. "Many, O Lord my God, are Your wonderful works." Psalm 40:5

One thing I love about novella’s at this time of the year is that they are a wonderful thing to curl up with when you only have a few hours in this busy holiday season. This novella was recommended to me and I am so glad I had the day to curl up, under blankets, with warm beverage and a cat curled up at my feet to enjoy it. Kale, (or Mom-ster, as her daughter Sydney calls her) is a single mom is struggling on her own to make ends meet, make Christmas special for her daughter, and deal with her own issues. She needs some hope and some love. Big Time. If you don’t like sappy, you are safe here, no sappy in these pages, just real feels.
She meets two men in this story and I love how both of them play a part in their own way in showing Kale love, acceptance, friendship and support. Who will win her heart? That you will have to find out for yourself. Will it be reliable Joe, or hunky Mr. Erikson?
This book is filled with tender moments, smiles and tears, and most of all, hope. Kale’s journey and tender and she is a character which most everyone can relate to. She is afraid to take risks, afraid to love, and afraid of disappointment.
This novella came highly recommended and I can only do the same. An all round great Christmas Season read. Enjoy!
