Kate and Keith Mackenzie are just getting settled into their new lives and Kate is starting her own business, an organizing business. With the help of her new neighbor/BFF, Meg, Kate is finding it hard to to do all she needs to do, done!
She lands a job with a wealthy widow who wants her and her husband's many collectibles sorted out and organized. Kate is happy for the work, but the job is cut short when the customer is found dead in her living room!
Kate, of course, was the last person to see Mrs. Neautthers alive so she is the person of interest in the crime.
Kate feels that the only way to clear her name is to investigate on her own.
There are many ups and downs in this book and the story kept me on the edge of my seat through most of the book. It is a well written story and I plan to read the others in the series. All the characters are likable and I like the organizational tips and ideas.
Organized for Murder is set in the small town of Hazelton, Vermont. Kate McKensie is a young mother of 6-year-old twin girls and is married to an ex-football player turned sportscaster for the local T V station. Due to an injury, he gave up professional hockey and they moved to his hometown and close to his parents who care deeply for Kate and her daughters. Kate McKenzie 's business venture, Stacked in Your Favor, provides organization and uncluttering services for both residential and business owners. A new rich client, hired Kate to inventory in the items in the client's mansion. Unfortunately, her client is found murdered and Kate becomes one of the suspects. Once cleared by the local authorities, she is surprised when the family's attorney hires her to complete the inventory listings on behalf of the estate. Several items from the house mysteriously appear in Kate's possession, she decides she needs to find the identity of the murderer, or be framed for murder and theft. Kate’s friend, Meg, helps with the inventory of the deceased belongings and supports Kate, who became involved in solving the murder mystery, along with items disappearing and reappearing. The story has a well written plot with many twists and turns as well as numerous potential suspects which kept me guessing.
This is the first book I’ve read penned by Ritter Ames. I was introduced to Ritter’s through Gemma Halliday Newsletter and her involvement in publishing Ritter’s works. Since I have enjoyed other cozy mysteries published by Gemma, I decided to try Ritter’s books. Organized for Murder fits into the genres of mystery and/or suspense, with humor gently integrated. I liked having the combination of a well written mystery and organizational tools/tips. Organized for Murder is the first book in part of a wonderful series. I was thrilled to see that Ms. Ames included an appendix in the book where all of the tips are organized. When a cozy mystery includes a recipe, I like to try it/them. This book includes a delicious crock pot oatmeal recipe which is perfect on a cold winter morning. I highly recommend to those that love mysteries. This story was a quick and enjoyable read and was the first in a new series. I look forward to reading more from Ritter Ames. A quick and enjoyable read that you don’t want to miss.
