With the epic ending of Opal, we were left with Katy held captive by Daedalus. now Daemon is willing to do anything to get to Kat, including turn himself in.
With experiments, torture and finding the truth behind what Daedalus to up to, the war hidden behind the walls of Area 51 is much bigger than the world is ready for... there are supernaturals that are stronger and more terrifying than any Luxen and Arum, and we call them Origins.
The offspring to a Luxen and hybrid who are the most willing and powerful, but they are being created as weapons.
Although this book was full of action, adventure and heart pounding moments it also was full of love, hope, and romance.
THIS book is what I was craving for in the series.
Daemon= ALPHAHOLE you just added to your book boyfriend list
If you asked me in the beginning of this series I would have said "Aliens? weird... pass.."

This is the first book in the series told from both Katy’s and Daemon’s point of view and I loved it. I mean after that crazy cliffhanger, things pick up right where they left off. Katy and Daemon were finally together, only to be separated from each other. There were some really good action packed scene’s which I loved and the pace of the book was good for me. I really have a love/hate relationship with everything that happened in Las Vegas: my emotions were (again) all over the place. Since there were also some major WTF moments in this book, which I loved, because I did not see it coming... I really had to cry a bit since we had to say goodbye to some of the characters. I also loved all the new characters we got introduced to or old characters we got to see so much more from. So, a shout out to Luc and Archer! The book ended on a minor cliffhanger in my opinion: I was sad that it happened, but love conquers all right?! Anyhow, like last time, the next book is already out, so no need to worry for those diving into these series now!
It's so hard to put down all of my thoughts and feelings about this book.
Let's start with the relationship between Kat and Daemon. Good grief...if it burns any hotter I'll be a pile of ash when this series is over. With every page you turn, their love grows stronger and their passion is always like tinder, just waiting for the right spark to combust into a full throttle fire. But, what this book really portrayed was a depth to their love that is so unbreakable, so consuming, so selfless, that I was completely captivated by it. Daemon shows a side of himself that is raw and powerful and it has everything to do with his need to protect Kat. And, Kat...what a badass! I mean, I knew she was strong and capable, but the horrors that she has to endure during this book are unimaginable. The comparison of the way that it shapes Kat and Daemon versus how Beth and Dawson fared is blinding.
As for the plot and overall storyline. Brilliant. Absolutely freaking brilliant. This book is chock full and it never stops moving or throwing curves at you. It's incredibly complex. The web of intrigue, the action, the love, it's all part of an all consuming book that you won't be able to put down. I am always impressed with this author. ALWAYS. But this book, wow, I am blown away at er creativity, her ability to tell a tale, and the way that she makes it easy for the reader to navigate through the twists, turns, and layers upon layers, of story elements and characters. I was never confused, rather I was always eagerly soaking up every detail to help me unravel the mysteries.
If you're surprised to find out there is a massive, huge, unbelievable, incredible, insane, cliffhanger...you obviously haven't read the there books in the series. I hate reading a book with a cliffhanger when the next book hasn't released yet, but with Jennifer L. Armentrout, it's worth it. Every single time. If you haven't read this, you are missing out on an amazing experience.

Daemon and Katy have to go through a lot in this book. Some of it is heartbreaking, but it's what make the story more credible. The unconditional love between Daemon and Katy is awesome. There are lots of surprises, some of which are incredible.
The "Origin" is a valuable addition to this series. The suspense, the action, the experiments and the romance are well put together. It's a great series. I love it.
Daemon has his work cut out for him trying to rescue the love of his life but he's willing to risk everything to get her back.
These book just swallow you whole, they keep you Turing pages and needing to know what the hell is going to happen next.
This book also introduces us to Archer. I immediately liked him he intrigues me. I'm hoping to hear more from him.
I'd like his story very much.
If you've never read any Alien PnR thinking its just not for me. Take a chance you may surprise yourself.
Love love LOVE!
This one is just soooooo good. I feel like I'm not really doing a good job of explaining why but IT. JUST. IS!!!!
This is the fourth book in the Lux series and the third one left on the biggest most horrible cliff hanger ever. So I was desperate to find out what the hell happened after that. And oh my god was it good!
Going into specifics will give WAAAAY too much away to anyone who hasn't read the other books so I wont do that.
I'm just blown away by how talented this author is. She writes this series so well. And after four books I'm still shocked by how amazing and different they all are. And also how she is able to write these brilliant twists and turns that I just do not see coming! I mean, I almost dropped this book at least twice from the shocks of certain events/revelations.
Just... fantastic - if its not obvious from the above, I HIGHLY recommend this entire series to all!
(Note - its a good idea to read "Obsession" the adult e-book set in this world (but with totally different characters) before reading Origin as it does overlap with the Lux storyline slightly and also makes things about this whole world a bit clearer - plus its a great book too!)
"Did you think you could stop me? I'll burn the world down to save her."
First let me just say that it was an absolute joy to finally be inside Daemon's head. Don't get me wrong... I do and always will love Katy. She is one bad a$$ heroine that I have mucho respect for. But finally, FINALLY, we are able to crawl around inside Daemon's head. What a glorious place it turned out to be.
Fierce love and devotion does not even begin to describe the feelings he has for Katy. We all knew it, even though it did take him three whole books to get the three little words out... but the love he has for her is epic. I think I fell even more in love with Daemon Black, which before I started Origin I would have said was impossible. We get to see his compassion, his love for not only Katy, but for that of his family, and the hatred that comes from betrayal. Yep, you read that right. Blake's previous betrayal is nothing compared to what goes down in Origin. I was shocked, and even now thinking about it... wow. Did not see that coming at all.
"I promise you that this isn't going to be our future, Kitten. I will give that to you--a normal life."
Her eyes glistened. "I don't expect a normal life. I just expect a life with you"
As I said earlier, Katy is bad ass. There really is no other way to describe her. She has gradually grown-up as the series has continued on. She stands up for not only herself but for those that she loves. You feel her love for Daemon, her fear of what the future holds, and the pain that comes from the thought that her mother is suffering because of her absence. She is such a strong character.
"I want a years-worth of seconds and minutes with you. I want a decade's worth of hours, so many that I can't add them up."
We get to meet some new characters in Origin, but we also get to find out a bit more about some of the old ones. Most importantly, Luc. He has always been a mystery to Daemon, but we finally get to find out exactly what he is. I was like a kid in a candy shop as the story and truth started to unfold. I was stuck somewhere between jumping up and down, and sitting on the edge of my seat.
There is a fair bit of tragedy in Origin. Namely the above mentioned betrayal and the results of that betrayal. Can I just say that I have never been more hyped up while reading the last 20% of a book... ever. I went from tears of happiness, to mouth wide open shock, to despair in no time at all. If the end of Opal was the cliffhanger that was heard around the world, then the event that brings upon the catastrophic events at the end of Origin, will forever be known as the betrayal heard around the world.
But, it wasn't all doom and gloom either. I laughed a lot. How can you not with Daemon around? He was his perfectly snarky self. He is the king of one liners and proved it again and again in Origin. He has some great banter and even in desperate situations, you find yourself smiling when he is around. You just know that there is going to be some classic Daemon dialogue.
"Sometimes words were cheap. They could be powerful, but in those rare occasions like now, words meant nothing."
I've seen mixed reactions to the ending of Origin. Some are calling it a cliffhanger, others are saying it isn't. I for one have to say that I think it ends in a huge cliffhanger. In fact, I think it pretty much rivals that of the ending of Opal. Yes, I am serious. You know how I mentioned my mouth wide open in shock a few sentences ago? Yeah, it was back and in full force when I reached the final page. I even had to backtrack a couple of pages and read them again to make sure I read it correctly the first time.
However, as there is one final book left in this series, Opposition, I fully expected a huge cliffhanger. If there is one thing I know about Jennifer L. Armentrout, it is that she loves to keep us guessing at what is going to happen next. There is no doubt that I will be reading Opposition as soon as it is released. We have not even made it out of 2013, and it is already one of my most highly awaited books of 2014. I need to know what happens next, and I need for Daemon and Katy to finally get their happily every after.
"A certain bone-deep understanding occurred and my hand tightened around the smaller one I held. It weren't stars we were staring at. The sky was falling."
