Blog postThose who cant do teach. That is the prevailing thought, especially in the sports world. This is not the case in the martial arts world however. This came to mind when I was recently asked by a parent upon my entering the dojo, "Do you ever teach class?" Every rank that advanced demonstrated a strong spirit, perseverance, determination and courage. We had some moments of levity especially with the children, because children will give some of the most creative answers. The promotion took place over two days. Blog postHere it is day 21 and I'm 34k in to my month of writing. If there is one thing I want to say about Nano, its this. You want to hit 50k? You need to have discipline. I also have a new found respect for writers that can produce more than one book a year. Writing is work. After the muse has left town, and inspiration is a dim memory, that's when discipline comes in. It sidles up to you paddle in hand and glares. Then it whispers: "What now? Blog postI don't have many vices. Reading is one of my primary addictions (thank you kindle!) The other is that I do enjoy one cup of coffee every morning. Occasionally I will even splurge and hit the green mermaid place and pay close to five dollars for what I could get for $1.50. I used to do that often, not so much now since I have started writing at home in the man cave.

Blog postIn our dojo kun, our dojo creed there is a line that states that we should respect our superiors. It has been brought to my attention this week by several of the students that if we are studying an ego-less way who are our superiors?

Blog postOne of the great facets of training is that it forces you to think. Let me clarify. You may be studying an art that is ancient, but you still have to make it work for you. It has to work for your body type, your height your reach and other physical compositions. One of the places this is expressed is in kata. There are several reasons for this:
For us its not practical, the wall space is being used by other items ( for example, weapons).

The brightest light casts the darkest shadow.
Would you kill to save a life?
In order to save those closest to him, Tristan has stepped closer to darkness.
In order to save Tristan, Simon must do the impossible.
When Monty uses blood magic, he enters a schism—which puts him, and everyone close to him, in mortal danger. His use of blood magic has alerted the Black Orchid, a mage sect tasked with apprehending and eliminating dark mages.
Now, Simon, with help from Monty’s closest allies and family, must find a way to stop him from going over to the darkness. If they fail, Monty will surrender to darkness, the Black Orchid will attempt to eliminate him, and Evers will be one step closer to her goal: the destruction of magic.
No one said it was ever easy in the Montague & Strong Detective Agency.
Sleep tight…don’t let the bedbugs bite…when the monsters come hunting, call Nyxia White.
Nyxia White isn’t entirely human. She sees the things no one else can. She never counted on being called to The Seven, it was an offer she could’ve refused…if she wanted to die.
Now she’s one of the beings tasked with protecting humanity.
When creatures start escaping the darkness and claiming human lives, Nyxia is the one who will stand against them. Together with her demon familiar, Acheron, and dark magic, she will answer the call and fight for those who can’t fight for themselves.
When monsters come hunting…she will be their nightmare.
A Kindle UK Storyteller Finalist
A Missing Ferryman. An Undead Dilemma. An Immortal Detective.
An emissary from the Dark Council has just materialized in the office of the Montague & Strong Detective Agency, and makes Simon Strong an offer he can’t refuse. Charon is missing. The legendary ferryman responsible for transporting sorcerer souls across the river Styx hasn’t been seen in days. And with each passing hour, those unable to cross the river are left to walk among the living, tilting the world further out of balance.
Meet Simon Strong, an immortal, who is also the best private detective in New York City. Together with his surly partner-Tristan Montague, a mage of indeterminate age, they must find the Ferryman and get him back to work before another Supernatural War ravages the earth, destroys humanity, and Simon’s local coffee shop.
Time is running out. His landlord wants the rent and Karma with a capital K is paying him a visit, and she can be a real…
Join the Montague & Strong Detective Agency and help them locate Charon, so he can restore balance to the universe, put the dead sorcerers to rest, and maybe solve the age old conundrum-coffee or tea?
Sometimes, being immortal can get you killed.
When Fate pays Simon a visit accusing him of disrupting causality, she makes him an offer he can’t refuse—become mortal or die.
There’s only one small problem.
In order to become mortal, Simon must find the goddess, Kali the Destroyer, and convince her to remove her curse. To complicate matters further, Haven and Roxanne are under attack by an ancient spell-an entropic sphere designed to kill everyone inside the facility.
Now, Monty and Simon must find out why Simon is disrupting causality, stop a lethal sphere from killing innocents, and convince an angry goddess to lift a curse.
A typical day in the Montague and Strong Detective Agency.
Join the Trio of Terror as they discover that not everything is as it seems, and sometimes, the past can kill you.
Mystery. Malice. Revenge.
Broken bodies and bloody messages are appearing in the darkest corners of New York City. Infected werewolves are roaming the streets attacking innocents.
The Dark Council demands answers. They summon Simon and Tristan to investigate. The evidence points to the work of a powerful mage, unfortunately, there is only one mage in the city powerful enough to cause this kind of infection-Tristan Montague.
Now, Simon and Tristan must locate the source of the magical infection before the Dark Council declares Tristan a dark mage, destroys the werewolves, and shatters the fragile peace in the supernatural community.
Join the Montague and Strong Detective Agency while they are hunted and chased. All while trying to uncover the identity of their unseen enemy before it’s too late!
London Bridge is falling...but it's not their fault...mostly.
Montague and Strong have left the building-in fact, they’ve left the continent.
When a teleportation circle sends them to London, The Penumbra Consortium-and older, darker version of the Dark Council requests Montague & Strong look into the murder of the leading demonologist, Mage Nigel Warrenton. There are a few complications-Tristan is being hunted by Golden Circle magistrates, Michiko must return to take her seat on the Council, before her brother is challenged, and demons are roaming the streets of London.
Now, with the help of Thomas Rafael-a mage who doesn’t believe in magic, they must avoid the magistrates, return Michiko to the Dark Council, and stop London from becoming a demon breeding ground.
What could possibly go wrong?
Montague & Strong dive into another thrilling adventure as they face off against demons, dark powers, and disasters as they try to save London from annihilation!
A Broken Pact. An Ancient Enemy. A Bitter Betrayal.
What does a vampire fear more than sunlight? The Cazadoras Sangrientas-Blood Hunters.
Michiko Nakatomi has led the Dark Council for over a century, maintaining the uneasy truce between humanity and the supernatural. But when an ancient enemy returns the delicate balance is shattered and vampires start dying.
Now, Michiko must fight for her life and the survival of the Council. She has no one to trust. Her inner circle is destroyed, the Council is on the verge of collapse, and her only hope lies with Simon and Tristan.
Join the Montague and Strong Detective Agency as they face off against the Blood Hunters to prevent them from destroying the Dark Council and plunging humanity to its doom.
She will teach them the meaning of fear—it will be the last thing they learn.
Michiko Nakatomi, an ancient vampire and leader of the Dark Council, is missing. After giving up control of the blood blades—weapons designed to destroy supernaturals—the Dark Council challenged Michiko’s leadership…and her right to exist.
Rising tensions within the alliance of vampires, mages, and weres, are threatening to tear the Dark Council apart. Some within the Council feel it’s time for supernaturals to step out of the shadows and take what’s rightfully theirs, by invoking the Blood Protocol—an ancient ritual created to eliminate mankind.
Michiko disagrees…violently.
Michiko must now face overwhelming odds, bitter betrayals, and unrelenting assassins, to prevent the Dark Council from plunging the world into another Supernatural War—one that could destroy them all.
It’s uncomfortable between a rock and a hard place.
When the NYTF reports that a golem, a large rock creature, is terrorizing parts of the city and destroying hubs of power, Ezra calls on Montague & Strong to investigate and stop the creature.
Their first reaction is to refuse.
Except there’s one problem.
No one refuses Ezra, a personification of Death, without grave consequences.
Now, Monty and Simon, together with Ursula of the DAMNED, must uncover how the golem was created and who would use it to destroy hubs of power, without being crushed in the process.
What they uncover, will have them face a power beyond their abilities and make choices with dire consequences.
Consequences they may not be ready for...yet.
Sometimes fear of the dark can keep you alive.
Grey and Koda have a lead on the supplier of Redrum X—a new strain of the deadly drug that creates UV resistant vampires. Preventing the streets of New York City from being flooded with the mindless creatures was only the first step.
Each night as darkness falls, body counts rise. Someone or something has made nights in the city…fatal. Grey must find who or what is doing the killing and stop them. He only has one clue. Rumors of a Mr. Dark are being whispered in the streets.
Is this Mr. Dark responsible for the deaths? Now together with Koda, Grey will enter a world no Night Warden has encountered. A world of darkness no one has escaped.
Can a dark mage wielding a darker blade bring light to save others?
Revenge is a dish best served cold…unless dragons are involved. Then make it hot, flaming hot.
George Rott wants revenge. After the death of his daughter, Cassandra, he vowed to find and destroy all the dragons. When he locates one of their hidden enclaves within the city, he enlists the help of an angry and unstable demigod to make them all pay.
If he launches an attack, he risks angering the dragons, plunging the city into an all-out war, and getting the unwanted attention of powerful gods. Now Simon, with Tristan’s help must find and stop George before he turns the city into his personal battlefield, killing them all.
Will Tristan and Simon find George in time? Will they avoid becoming dragon dinner?
Join Montague & Strong in a thrilling adventure as they face off against dragons, demigods, and a father’s thirst for revenge!
The Sanctuary is the hidden home of the Golden Circle-a sect of powerful mages. It’s a sacred place of learning, magic, and deep secrets. When Tristan discovers his father, Connor Montague is being held prisoner, he vows to return to the Sanctuary and release him.
There’s only one problem. The Sanctuary has been taken over by Mage Oliver. An Elder who has unleashed the magistrates and promises to destroy Tristan the moment he steps foot on the mountain.
Now together with the help of Simon, they must face a mountain of mages, free his father, and escape the Sanctuary before an Arch Mage erases them from existence.
