Laugh at the acting, cringe while a horse is roped down on it's side overnite
Verified purchase
Bad acting. Worked with BLM Mustangs on 2 ranches last year and I cringed at then roping down a horse on it's side overnight. And a true wild mustang would never let anyone mount him like that. Not sure why they always show wild horses giving up so easily and completely, they don't, ever. Kid is the usual know-it-all and there's a creepy flashdance scene complete with slow motion that was not only cringe worthy but laughably out of place. I watched it for the horses otherwise this would have been one star at best. And completed with the usual attractive wealthy blonde trying to buy the horse just to complete the usual formula.

This is such a good movie.

My sister used to say it was good being old, you could hide your own Easter Eggs.
Well, I seem to have Movie amnesia.
I loved it better than the first time I watched it.
Ricky Shroeder is an amazing man. I remember seeing him on a talk show when he was little.
The other child star was so hooked on himself and Ricky was so down to earth and so humble.
This movie also has his daughter in it. What a dear she is as well
Its a great story about a city girl who finds her father. He's a cowboy about to lose his ranch.
Her folks even though they hadn't seen each other since she got pregnant, never married anyone else.
So unlike the movies today.
I would love to see more movies from Ricky and his wife.

the plot needed work

It was frustratingly painful in the details... the plot needed so much work.
Girl wants to save a horse from being sold because it's wild and "will never be broken" but manages to put saddle on him and ride off with him with no trouble. Boy she likes catches up to her without needing a horse to ride.

This totally enjoyable movie is one of the best movies I have ever seen. It was well written and acted. Unlike many low budget family movies, the characters and plot were believable and touching. There wasn't one cuss word and no sex. The daughter had a cheerful personality, the fearlessness of strong convictions, while the Dad was quiet, but kind with strong convictions. The ranch hand who became the daughter's boy friend had admirable character qualities and a most charming personality. The shows main characters were all really likable. Of course there was the bad guy, but while certainly unlikable, his part was also believably well done. The Mom was her daughter's best friend. How often do you see this in the movies? Also if you are into horses, you will love this movie. It should come as no surprise that I highly recommend this well done family movie.

Came after then expected, but the case itself was a bit beat up, I guess that's what you get when you order from a dealer with used items, however I didn't know it was a dvd rental from a library, I probably wouldn't have ordered it if I had known that to be honest... It wasn't stated that it was pulled from a library.. atleast there is minmal damage to the DVD itself.

Ok movie
Verified purchase
Ok movie if you overlook the bad moral teachings, a selfish unwed mother not allowing her daughter to know who her father was or let him be part of a child's life that he helped bring into the world. The acting was average, the story and ending were predictable and corny. The wild horse wasn't believable at all....he was way too tame. I used to break wild horses, they are not like this.

Watch it for the horses

Yaaaah? Im all for strong female role models, but not at the expense of making all the male characters look weak, unintelligent, or bullying. Anyone that knows horses will see countless flaws in the movie. If your looking for fresh genetics, catch one of his daughters and sire it with a high line stud. The story doesn't take place in 1860!
