A gem hidden in the ocean of Amazon streaming
Verified purchase
I was paging through Amazon streaming tonight, and I saw that two of my favorite actors, Edie Falco and Jay Duplass, are in this movie. Because I like them both very much, I punched the "watch now" button without a second thought. I was pulled into this film and watched it through without pausing once. The pace is languid but the emotions run high. Another reviewer indicated that Edie Falco carried this film but Jay Duplass is doing the heavy lifting as a man who is 18 and 38 years old at the same time, and can't find his place in the world. Duplass and Falco have good chemistry, which is a credit to their abilities, because it's not an obvious matching.

Honest and Compelling, A Small Masterpiece
Verified purchase
This is a wonderful, quietly compelling film. The acting and script are top notch. Honesty shines through many of these scenes, where uncomfortable human emotions and actions are allowed to unfold before us. The cinematography is just lovely; the people and places are observed with a gentle compassion. All parts, from the soundtrack to the acting to the script, work together to create a small masterpiece of personal storytelling.

Love The Granite Falls, Wa Scenes
Verified purchase
I love that this is filmed in and around Granite Falls, WA. The town has changed 99% since my grade school, junior high and high school days but I still see many roads and landmarks that I enjoy seeing.
The movie plot is slightly off, somewhat complex, and in the end not a bad representation of how complicated family and community relationships are.

Such a heartwarming, lovely independent film!

What a gem! Set in charming Granite Falls, the scenery is quaint and complements the story nicely. Edie Falco gives another brilliant performance, as does Jay Duplass - both are wonderful. It truly displays the human nature and desire for love, forgiveness, and nurturing.

Independent film - visually lovely - great talent - story somewhat lacking

Edie Falco and Kaitlyn Dever really carried this film. An independent film that was beautifully produced with a great feel for the locale (Pacific Northwest) and pace of a sleepy, small town. The music was great - fit well with the gorgeous cinematography. The story had so much potential - especially with the talent - I was somewhat disappointed with the dialogue.

So good.

As a Nurse Jackie & Transparent fan, I had high expectations. This film met and exceeded my expectations. Excellent acting all around. It’s the type of movie that sticks with you, and there are several levels of meaning to the story. Loved it. Highly recommend.

I enjoyed basically because I live near here. It’s not an uplifting film by any means but worth the watch
