Word Witch Jennifer L. Hart
What I’m looking for in my ideal reader match:
- Must be okay with flustered female main character who makes poor but hilarious life choices. And also f-bombs.
- Must appreciate brutally honesty in the form of witty banter and sarcasm.
- Must like badly behaved pets. They are my tribe.
- Must be open to creative solutions for hiding magic, bodies, muffin tops, and chin hairs.
- Must have your own wine glass. (Empowerment brew will be provided)
What to expect if we're compatible:
- You will probably snort something out of your nose.
- You will plot the downfall of any who dare interrupt you before the end.
- That thing you think but would never say? I'll say it in print.
- I’ll have you re-examining your life options when it comes to shifter mates, fae bargains, and witchcraft.
- I’ll give you a new appreciation for the moon, homebrew, and corgis.

Enter Robin Goodfellow, who reveals to Joey he is a faery prince and can give her what she wants (a chance to go back in time to change the past) in exchange for a favor.
Will Joey take her chance to change October 3, 1996? What will she have to give up for this? Will she be happy with the results? And what about Robin? Why did he seek out Joey?
Another very original and warm story from this author. I really felt for Joey as she is such a real person with all the doubts and regrets we all sometimes have. And would we all not wish for a chance to be back in the past - even for a little while - to see life as it was then and the people you love(d)?
I really can't wait for the next in this series! Robin is such an intriguing character and I want to know what Joey is up to next! Loved it.
The reason I didn’t give it more stars is because of some issues with development and editing that drove me crazy. I felt like the relationships between some of the characters (Joey and Clara, and even Joey and Robin) could’ve been developed better. There were also several issues with the editing, including switching from past tense to present. Near the end, the main character drives off, leaving her friend behind, and I had no idea where she left her because it wasn’t mentioned. I read this part over several times. I finally assumed she must’ve left her at her house… I hope that’s where she left her, anyway…
All of these things are issues that could’ve been resolved with a few more beta readers and a couple more rounds of editing.
However, I really did enjoy the story. I felt like it was really clever and the ending, overall, was very satisfying. The story itself, and the positive message, I seriously, absolutely loved. *Definitely* worth the read.
Even though I had already pre-ordered the book, I requested an ARC and then forgot to post the review early. My apologies! I adore all of Ms. Hart's series and have from the first book I read.
This is a most fun book to read when you are all alone with a glass of wine or whatever your pleasure happens to be so no one can see or hear you laugh out loud or, as in my case, dribble my wine down my chin. Except I wasn’t alone...husband kept looking at me. He finally asked, “Funny book?” to which I replied with a giggly, “Uh, huh.” without taking my eyes off the page.
🙄❤️
I simply love middle aged Joey who has the worse luck ever. I mean, if she didn’t have any bad luck, she wouldn’t have any luck at all. Then there’s her best friend Darcy, who has way more on her plate than anyone should have to handle. Grammy is a sweetheart. God love her. Ahhhh, Robin Goodfellow...eye roll after an audible gasp. Now what does a Fae Prince want with a dumpy and frumpy middle age woman who is close to being over the hill? Joey has been given a chance to change the past ; but it comes with a price. Second chances...are they worth it?
Love this book and the whole concept of second chances. I’m looking forward to more. After all, what’s not to love about a “cozy”fantasy!

Jennifer's engaging characters and original humor makes this book a must-read for any woman who has reached middle age wondering, what if or, if only.
And three cheers for Grammy B! Best grandma character I've read in the paranormal women's fiction genre!
