I will imediatly tell you that my favorite scene was the "tank" dog lifting seen at the vet's office. Okay, now that that's out of the way...I've seen Lake Bell in supporting roles in other films and I've always thought she had more to give. Turns out I was right. Ms. Bell was fun to watch and her chemistry with leading man Paul Rud felt perfectly natural. Her interactions with Jason Biggs were also great, though it got a bit creepy during the big revelation...I'm sure there was supposed to be some creepiness there, but it might have gone a tad too far. I have never seen Eva Longoria in anything as far as I'm aware (I don't know if that's sad or not) so I was able to watch her performance with no pre-set determinations. She definetly had the "bridezilla" role pegged in the beginning of the film. As far as the rest of her performance, she certainly made a great menacing spirit, but it all fell flat after her epifiny. Overall, this is just a fun film to watch if you just wanna watch a movie. I'll leave the purchasing desicion up to you. Enjoy.
Great movie for fans of Paul Rudd's understated humor. It's a simple story that we've seen many times before, but this movie finds new twists, and its humor really hits home. In 2008 Paul Rudd hadn't quite mastered projecting charisma that commands the camera, as he did in the Ant Man movies. This may be why some of the reviewers complain of a lack of chemistry in the love stories in this movie. But the performances by Eva Longoria and Lake Bell more than compensate. They're clearly having a blast with this story, while Paul Rudd becomes a kind of straight man to the mayhem breaking out between the leading ladies of the film. This movie is surprisingly good, and we'll worth your time.
The premise is simple. A woman (Eva Longoria) dies on what was to be her wedding day. She returns to earth as a ghost only do discover that her former fiancé is seeing an alleged psychic and, worse, beginning to fall for her. The ghost begins to torment the psychic in order to prevent the incipient romance from blooming.
The rest of the plot should be pretty obvious, and, indeed, there is nothing surprising here. But if the plot is a strictly by-the-numbers affair, the performances are not so much, especially Longoria's, which suggests strongly that she had a great deal of fun with the role. That fun translates onto the screen, and the result is an amusing movie. This might not be great filmmaking, but it is an enjoyable way to pass 90 minutes.
I understand this is a late response. I received this movie and it doesn’t work at all! I really wanted this movie and can’t watch it! Very disappointed I spent my money on it☹️ I tried on several different electronics and so I know it was the movie.

This is a 2008 romcom in which Kate (Eva Longoria) dies in a freak accident on her wedding day. Distraught fiancé Henry (Paul Rudd) cannot come to terms with events and a year later is persuaded to visit psychic, Ashley (Lake Bell) by his sister Chloe (Lindsay Sloane). Upon meeting, Henry learns that Ashley is only a part time psychic who also runs a catering business. Ashley admits to a sceptical Henry that her psychic reading works about half the time and the meeting is a disaster. Henrys sister is determined to get her brother to 'move on' and hatches a plan with Ashley, but Kate’ ghost has other ideas. This is similar in many ways to Ghost [Demi Moore] but is no full on supernatural romance, it’s more a basic sitcom in which Kate haunts Ashley in order to break up the fledgling romance between the psychic and her former fiancé. The interaction between the two women really works, especially since only Ashley can see Kate, with often hilarious results. This isn’t to say there aren’t some serious moments –there are, and there are a few script twists as well. This film entertains despite some quite obvious moves and is well worth a watch, but it’s not earth shattering, just a good family romp that just seems to make time fly by. As for the disc it’s generally a no frills affair, loading directly onto the main menu of play, scene selection, trailer, future releases and set up [basically 2.0 or 5.1, or subtitles]. No deleted scenes, no cast interviews or making of. Eva Longoria plays a character not too far removed from her role in Desperate Housewives, so if you liked her there, you’ll probably like this. So if you’re looking for a light feelgood movie, this might just do it.

A watched this movie on the TV, then went on Amazon and bought it. It's so hilarious I needed it to go into my movie collection for good. It's just a fun movie that makes you chill, without needing to overthink anything.
3.0 out of 5 starsSimple, predictable film, but worth a watch if you're bored!

Definitely not what I thought it would be. It certainly wasn't laugh out loud funny at any point, and the acting is extremely wooden, especially at the beginning where it's quite slow to get going anyway. For £3.50 though, it's worth a watch for simple and easy viewing to pass away a couple of hours, but I wouldn't pay any more than that. I prefer Just Like Heaven, which has a similar story, but is funnier with more likeable characters.
