About Pamela K. Kinney
Pamela K. Kinney gave up long ago trying not to listen to the voices in her head and has written award-winning bestselling horror, fantasy, science fiction, poetry, nonfiction ghost books, and a cryptid book ever since. Three of her nonfiction ghost books garnered Library of Virginia nominations. Her horror short story, "Bottled Spirits," was runner up for the 2013 WSFA Small Press Award and is considered one of the seven best genre short fiction for that year. One of her ghost books went to second printing and second edition with new stories and photos added.
Pamela and her husband live with one crazy black cat. Along with writing, Pamela has acted on stage and film, does paranormal investigations for Paranormal World Seekers for AVA Productions, and is a member of Horror Writers Association and Virginia Writers Club. Where monsters battle for supremacy; where the hand of evil touches all; where one gets lost in their own madness.
Remember when horror used to keep you up at night as it flickered from your television set, packed with ghouls, ghosts, demons, and madmen? Well, we have many late-night terrors for you, dear reader, if you dare to turn these pages. We have water monsters, trees with eyes, cryptid creatures, and hybrid horrors. Be prepared to face reanimated bodies, mad scientists, and barbarous butchers. If you’re not afraid to face the horrible beasts and frightening fiends herein, sit back and get ready because Retro Horror has arrived.
The answers to these and many other rhetorical questions lie within these pages.
Join Pamela K. Kinney as she explores the North American tales and mythology that deal with shapeshifting frights. From the arid deserts of the American Southwest to the dense forest of the American Northwest, and even farther north to the Last Frontier of Alaska; from the Midwest to the Appalachian Mountains, continuing to the Atlantic Ocean in the east and down south to Florida, the tales of were-beasts are myriad—and hauntingly similar.
With all these stories spanning cultures and landscapes, might there be some spark of truth to them?
Writer ‘friends’ joined in and produced the harrowing, spine-chilling short stories found in this collection.
The contest ran for the month of October and each week’s twenty-five entries were voted on with comments; the story with the most comments won.
The winning writers of the first four weeks competitions then competed for an ‘author’s dream’ prize package of free ebooks, paperbacks, hardcovers, gift cards and more.
But everyone agreed all the stories were excellent…
The Facebook thread exploded. Comments and new ‘friends’ were acquired … all with the same goal … writing!
This is not one person’s achievement, but a collective of people from around the block and around the world.
“Hal L. O’ween” is the pen-name of a group of writers from around the world that have joined together to ‘scare your pants off!’
Many thanks go to the following writers—without their involvement, this collection wouldn’t have been possible:

The publishing community is so much bigger than it was before the self-publishing boom and it continues to grow exponentially every day. Unfortunately, it doesn’t come with a handbook or support group. #AmWriting is a collection of letters written by authors from all different corners of the publishing community. The letters provide words of encouragement or advice to those just starting out or those who have become discouraged in their art. At Pure Textuality PR, we believe in supporting each other as a community, and we felt this project would be a good way to bring writers together and maybe give some new artists just the right nudge to keep going.
100% of the net proceeds of #AmWriting will be donated to The Wayne Foundation, a charity dedicated to offering aid and services to young women victimized by illegal sexual exploitation and the sexual trafficking of minors. For more information about The Wayne Foundation, you can visit them on the web at http://waynefdn.org.
#AmWriting features letters from more than 70 authors, including Jeaniene Frost, T.J. Michaels, Kendall Grey, and many more!

Then the vortex opened.
Sucked up into a corridor just outside of Hell, she meets Connor, a werewolf, and Larry, a demon that looks like a blue-eyed eyeball. They escape back to earth, only to find that the vortex has opened up in downtown Richmond. The town is going to hell, literally. Besides a grayness seeping out and turning all living things into zombies, monsters and demons are invading Cat’s world.
Will Cat and her new friends (including an angel named George) be able to stop the vortex before it claims the entire planet?
Cat’s life is definitely no longer humdrum and ordinary.
