Like any conscientious parent, I've read numerous parenting books, all of which have offered helpful tips that I can only hope to put into play and make a habit of doing. However, unlike the parenting books I've read, Parenting With Ease gives mothers a path to put themselves in a position that helps them execute the tips that Telgheder offers in her book. The author does this by reminding parents to take care of themselves first and not sacrifice too much of ourselves for our children so that we can be in a position to offer the calming force our children need when tempers and emotions are raised. After all, how can we keep our cool and be the parent we want to be if we are tired and/or spread too thin? The author uses this basis to guide parents through a mindful approach to handling some of what she sees as the biggest challenges that parents face today with both young and older kids. This book has already helped me be a more present, appreciative and calm parent. I highly recommend it!

This book lays out a path that feels accessible in how to be calm in the multitude of scenarios in which parenting proves to be quite challenging. I have a 3 year old and a 1.5 year old and this book is teaching me how to communicate with them but also how to adjust my attitude and perception of their behavior so I can skip past my own anger and feelings of frustration, and be able to actually hear my children and give us both what we need. Both my husband and I read it and it also has been an amazing tool for us to get on the same parenting page. A MUST READ for all parents!!!

From the very first chapter and throughout, it helped me to focus on what was most important to me, what I most wanted for my family and how to achieve it. I also loved how it puts self-care as such a priority, which I think most moms tend to put at the bottom of the list! I've read (or tried to) many parenting books over my 12 years in the mom business, and I generally find them either dull, bogged down by too much theoretical research, or overly prescriptive, with scripts of strategies that flew out the window as soon as there was a real-life need for them. This one's different. It invites you to examine the strengths you bring to parenting and how you can focus on those vs. the deficits of frustration that arise from the daily grind. I know I feel much calmer and more positive about coping with those inevitable snags and better connecting with my kids. I also love that she prioritizes self-care in the process...it seems ridiculous as a society to have to point out how important, productive and healthy that truly is--parents are humans first, after all.
