That's a concern for Zirkander, Cas, and the rest of the Iskandians, but all Tolemek wants is to find his missing sister. The last time he saw her, their father had locked her in an asylum because of a mental illness with no cure. Now the military has taken her. What use the Cofah have for her, Tolemek can only guess, but he is certain she is in danger. He must save her before it's too late. But her fate is inexplicably tied to the dragon's, and he must find it to find her.

Action-wise this book starts right where the previous book ended and is full of even more action than the previous books in the series. And guess what? I liked it a lot! As with the previous stories, the laugh out loud worthy banter makes it all even better. Example:
“Just don’t get close to the body,” Zirkander said. “We’re leaving that for Tolemek.”
“Really,” he[Tolemek] said.
“Don’t you want to get your microscope out and look at some brain bits?”
“Brain bits, Zirkander? How is it your people consider you a national hero?”
“We have low standards for heroism in Iskandia.”
“Obviously.”
I may not have been a fan of the insecurities Tolemek and Cas felt towards their relationship as they seemed so badass otherwise, BUT I felt that the book simply flew by and, of course, left me wanting more of this world. Which I am going to do ASAP, of course.
Did I mention the deadly part? Because the jungle is that. Not only are there strange beasties to be found, but the natives are a little aggressive and there's the slllllliiiightest possibility there might be a deadly illness/virus in the area.
Good times, amirite?
Anywho. We get to meet Ridge's dad, see some thrilling escapades, fight pirates (among other things), and watch Sardelle and Jaxi do what they do best. Which means they saved the day on more than one occasion. GOOD TIMES!

Not because I've had enough of Buroker and her dragon-verse - I'm actually off to check out another series. I guess I'm just comfortable that the characters that I like are in a good place and can take care of themselves... and I'm less interested in the characters whose stories are coming up next.
Which is odd because there are some world changing discoveries in this book yet I'm willing to accept "and they lived happily ever after" as an end lol.
Sorry, I can't explain better without spoiling the book!
While i am a bit saddened that the characters seem to be a bit one dimensional and have this increased teenage angst about relationships and their place in the world, it is mildly interesting to see where the story line will go. I am also of the opinion that these would be much better books for young adults. The angst noted above, as well as the chracters ability to get through anything without a significant retribution or cost is somewhat unbelievable at times.
I think the author will grow as time goes by and be able to add more dimensions. It is however, a decent and quick read.
Top reviews from other countries

The characters are great, the places they go to are imaginative and interesting.
The story is still fast paced and exciting and it seems to be going in an amazing direction. They have found a dragon.....love it. This will not be a spoiler as there is so much more to the last sentence!!
The story is left on a bit of a cliff-hanger but i actually don't care (for once!) because i really, really, want the next book to see what happens.
If you would like to read something a little bit different then i recommend this series. Do start at the beginning though as you will get a better feel for the characters.
Loving this series so far.

I cannot wait to five into book 5

The progression of the characters flows well with many interesting goals for each character.
My only personal letdown is I felt for the length of the book there was not a "huge journey" considering the overall scheme. The introduction of a couple new characters didn't seem to peak my interest like the current band of merry men, but I enjoyed the read either way! Still looking forward to reading the next in the series.
