Lots to like, little to offend, and a conundrum

This is a pleasing story, well told and better produced than I expected. The menu of the current (second) edition offers scene selection and (hooray!) SUBTITLES. The music works well, and the picture and sound are good. The few simple ideas from chess work well, and the film does a pretty good job with one of those questions about life that we can't get away from.

The weakness that bothered me most was a complicated scene near the end, where I found it hard to grasp what was going on. The strengths of the film -- including a very decent story, some appealing characters, and healthy thinking -- more than make up for the few weaknesses.

{SPOILER} Think the film is shallow? Notice that there are two love stories. They end differently, and the different endings relate to one of the main ideas of the movie -- but I can't say just how.

I wanted more

I longed for this movie but i ended up just liking it, it was sweet with a little whimsy to it. I wished I could see more into the background on the lead character though. The story was a little incomplete with the con artist and gold digging girlfriend but the story wasn't about them anyway. Otherwise it was a healthy story line...far cry from the worldly romantic comedies, which i appreciated.

Simple love story about giving then receiving

I really liked this one because it was simple, not a lot of "action", but it showed how he leaned what he was taught and choose to help her out, though he had something to gain. He showed compassion and wanted to bless both of the ladies. How to recapture what was lost and begin again the something new. I thoroughly enjoyed it. For those that like a simple love story.

Sweet movie. Some of the characters were irritating, but overall, a quiet and sweet movie.

Just a great story without the language that taints many good pictures today. The storyline and scenery are unmatched. The character mesh very well.
