THIS Peter Rabbit says it's 'easy to steal.' Disrespectful, Arrogant, Careless
Verified purchase
This version of the classic tale diminishes the moral lesson of the original. This was done, most likely, to fill enough minutes to count as a movie. It is quite frenetic, with a looming, oversized, frazzled farmer, Mr. McGregor, lunging - deadly sharp farm implements in hand - at little animated bunnies. Over and over. No lesson here about learning from other's mistakes, respecting one's loving mother or father, or respecting other's property. Big, beautifully colored violence and arrogance. Peter quips about how easy it is to steal.

Peter is feuding with the elderly man who lives in the hose next to where his friend lives and she loves him so much. Well, soething happens to the older man and his nephew who is even worse gets the house. This amps up the feud because the new young guy is more tech savvy and a bit younger and faster too. Peter and his forest friends do what they can to run him out. Very enjoyable movie and the animation is outstanding. Seamless scenes between the real humans and the animals are terrific.

Rewatchable Rabbit -Worth Every Penny

One of the funniest movies I’ve seen in a long time. My 9-year old son loved it, as did his parents and grandparents. It was witty without being totally raunchy or inappropriate for a family audience...or on the other side of the spectrum, without being saccharine sweet or melodramatic. If you’re a purist, then know it’s not “like the classic books.” However, the mischievous essence of Peter was captured perfectly. Our family unanimously voted Benjamin the character we would most like to have as a pet. It was fun to look up the voice talent behind the CGI animals, too. Loved it!

**Item review**: Beware of Blu-ray issue. I believe I just had bad luck with this. I bought from ebay (used) & Amazon (new)...the ebay blu played halfway & then wouldn't load, the Amazon won't even recognize disc. On 2 blu-ray devices...other movie blu discs work fine on these devices. I tested my collection to make sure it was not devices.
That being said they are returning and will test the next disc they send me.
Did not try the code as I'm returning, both say expired in 2020 on pamphlets. Edited code out on pics just in case someone else gets this return. Sometimes they can work depending on app used.
***movie review*** I really love the movie, why I need it in my collection. Lots of laughs and a good message in the end. Watched on DVD since the blu-ray wouldn't load & its a wonderful film. Kind of makes you hate rabbits at first but of course has a lovely resolution. Used one of my favorite songs from Vampire Weekend too!!
Acting was superb ~~ Rose Byrne & Domhnall Gleeson are absolute gems!! Wish they were an item irl. Also Domhnall with brown hair was not as upsetting as I had imagined. They did a good job on the dye, left him strawberry brown. Yum! That man is charming, talented and gorgeous to boot!! Bless the Gleeson family! James Gorden I'm not a huge fan of but his voice was perfect for that lil rabbit brat! So cute!! Other voice overs were great, Margot with the lisp was impressive.
A must-see! Detail was great even on DVD, rabbit fur/eyes and animation was pristine. Really looking forward to seeing again on Blu-ray if I can get a working disc!!

Saw Peter Rabbit at the movies with my sister and great niece (6 years old). I have also just preordered. I loved this movie. The animation is unbelievable. I felt that I could reach out and touch the bunnies they were so realistic. One thing I really liked in the movie was that Peter took responsibility for his actions. Yes, he was mischievous and pulled a lot of pranks on Farmer Green and the younger Mr. Greene, but in the end he saw how he had hurt people. Think this is an important lesson for all of us to learn. In this day and age, many people try to blame someone else when they hurt others.

I have always loved the Peter Rabbit books and have given them to practically all the kids in my family. This movie didn't disappoint.

Very clever telling of the Peter Rabbit story with excellent casting all around!

This story picks-up where the Beatrix Potter books end, with Peter and his old arch-rival, Farmer McGregor, locking horns over access to the farmer's vegetable garden. Also included in the cast is Beatrix Potter herself, played by the beautiful Rose Byrne, who loves & protects Peter and his siblings (Flopsy, Mopsy, & Cottontail) as much as she possibly can. In this version, old farmer McGregor (Sam Neill) dies of a heart attack, with his country house inherited by his great-nephew Thomas (Domhnall Gleeson), who arrives from the big city deciding that he wants to take up gardening, guaranteeing an encounter with Peter (voiced by the very talented James Corden!) Also, they've got the beautiful Margot Robbie narrating, and she's also the voice of Flopsy! Overall, a very fun, well-written, and enjoyable telling of this classic children's story!
