Blog postOkay, technically this came out last year but I completely forgot to post here so you get the Out Now post a few months late.
Monstro is a short story set in the world of my Serial Killer Z series. If you’ve read the fourth book, Shadows, then you’ll recognize the name. Set in Hollywood at the beginning of the zombie outbreak, this story fills in Monstro’s (and Otto’s) backround.

Blog postI got off to such a good start last year. I was writing every day, not the 1000 words I was aiming for but still pretty close. I hit the 249th day of a writing streak. I was even posting monthly updates here.
And then I stopped.
I didn’t hit a wall exactly, but I needed to ease off, get some distance and refill my creative well. I wrote just over 1000 words from September to December and that was it. My total word count for the year was 198,945 which is so frustratingly close6 months ago Read more -
Blog postNational Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) has rolled around again. If you’re not familiar with NaNoWriMo, the goal is to write a 50,000 word novel in one month and thousands of people around the world take part in the challenge.
I almost attempted it this year. I have my (probable) next book outlined and ready to go but my schedule is jam packed and I’ve been taking a bit of a break from writing. Adding the pressure of NaNoWriMo would have been bad for my mental health.

Blog postI definitely didn’t miss my July writing update, oh no. Definitely not. Look over there – a new David Duchovny album.
Okay, you got me. I forgot to update at the end of July. And July was a pretty good month, writing wise. I hit 19,808 words and continued my writing streak. Most of that time was spent revising my new novella.
August got off to a good start. I finished the novella and found a name – The Angular Bones Beneath. I also wrote a new short story set in my Serial Kill10 months ago Read more -

Blog postI have a probably unhealthy obsession with tracking my writing habits. I’ve got 12 years of data about how much I write and for the last eight years or so I’ve been pretty aggressive about writing every day and tracking how many words I write including whether that’s new words, revising, or rewriting.
I’ve also done a few writing streaks. My longest was over 5 years but I was starting to get burned out so ended up taking a bit of a break after that. I started a new streak at the end o11 months ago Read more -
Blog postOooh ooh, we’re halfway there! Oooh oooh <cough> <cough> Ahem.
Okay, that’s enough of that.
We’re halfway through 2021 and it’s hot. Not as hot as a couple of days ago when Vancouver reached 40C (about a billion F) but still pretty toasty. Blog postAs I write this, I have just finished the first draft of my next book.
This one has been a bit of a struggle. I started it on the 2nd of February 2019 and apart from a break between April and October of that year have been working on some form of this story pretty much since then. It’s been rewritten multiple times and this version is actually a combination of the original early drafts and a prequel novella.

Blog postA quick unedited (and context free) snippet from the currently untitled first book in my new series.
Memories surged around Tessa. Heart-wrenching loss entwined with stomach-churning fear. Night terrors wrapped around movie-style theatrics. Faces peered at her from the bleakest recesses of her mind. She cried out for Eli, desperate for his strength of will or just to hear his voice.

Blog postIt feels weird writing May when we’re in June but this is an update on what’s happened in the past so guess it’s right. Yeah, it’s right.
Total new words for May was 24,499. Apart from being annoyingly close to a nice round number, it’s my lowest month of the year. I had some really low days in there thanks to the rest of the world getting in the way but I’m trying not to beat myself up too much. Blog postAnother month, another writing update.
I’m still focused on the first book in my new series. I crossed the 100,000 word mark for both the book and my word count for 2021 which is a nice psychological milestone. There’s still a decent chunk of writing to do and I spent several days wrestling with some tricky plot problems. Most of them are sorted but I found another one a few minutes ago. Blog postA quick unedited (and context free) snippet from the currently untitled first book in my new series.
Tessa sat in an absurdly comfortable armchair. The hard edge of her phone dug into her ribs but she didn’t dare shift position in case she drew attention to its existence. Blog postA quarter of the way through the year already. Ouch.
March was all about focus for me (at least when it came to the writing). I spent an hour or so revising an old story for submission to an anthology but other than that I spent all my writing time on the first book of the new series.
Total word count for the month was 28,535. As usual that was a mix of new words, outlining, and revisions. It’s also less than 1,000 words a day which is my goal for the year.

Blog postToday marks the third anniversary of the publication of the first book in my Serial Killer Z series, Infection.
Admittedly, that’s a little bit misleading because the first Serial Killer Z book published was Serial Killer Z back in October of 2018. Which makes October the official birthday of the series as a whole. But today is a birthday so that’s good enough.

In this title in the acclaimed 'Future Chronicles' series of speculative fiction anthologies created by award-winning author Samuel Peralta, thirteen authors assemble an array of astonishing tales around creatures extinct for eons, around prehistoric creatures suddenly, and awesomely, made real.

Campbell Award winning author Seanan McGuire; New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Laxmi Hariharan; plus ten more of today's top authors in speculative and science fiction.

About the Author
Created by award-winning author Samuel Peralta, and edited by some of the most-respected editors in the genre, The Future Chronicles is the #1 bestselling anthology series that brings together work from visionary new voices and from the grandmasters of modern speculative fiction.
Its unique take on major science fiction and fantasy themes - A.I., aliens, time travel, robots, dragons, telepaths, zombies, immortality, galactic battles, cyborgs, doomsday - has made it one of the most acclaimed anthology series of the digital era.
Hugh Howey launched the idea on Kboards, a forum for Kindle readers, but also the meeting place of an active community of indie writers.
The result is this anthology of 101 very short stories by 101 authors.
To make it more attractive for you, the reader, we set ourselves a limit of a thousand words. You should be able to read each story in under five minutes — on your desktop computer, laptop, or tablet at home or in the office, but also on your smartphone, on the go, while you are commuting or waiting at a coffee shop for your significant other to arrive.
We included as many genres as we could. We hope that maybe, with only five minutes of your time on the line that would otherwise be wasted anyway, you'll be tempted to venture outside your comfort zone and try out some new genres and new authors.
With aliens or angels? Or a ground hog?
Bleak despair? Martial fervor? Or a belly laugh?
Whatever the Apocalypse. It will be borne by people and their families and their dogs and most of all, it will challange their notions of themselves.
The best selling “Alternative” series continues with the unique look at the Apocalypse, brought to you in the sometimes serious, sometimes funny, but always quality you’ve come to expect from B Cubed Press.
This book contains stories from writers in seven countries.
They range from the wildly popular blogger Jim Wright. In this book Jim publishes his first short fiction, The Deserter. A war that brings the hosts of heaven to earth as you’ve never imagined them before.
But wait, there is more. Mike Resnick, one of the most widely read science fiction masters of the 20th and 21st century brings his vision of the final play in an alien invasion, as he brings you to know the The Dog.
From Greece, we have Christine Lucas, a retired Airforce Officer, from Nigeria, Ugonna-Ora Owoh, recipient of a 2018 Young Romantics/Keats Shelley prize, a 2019 Erbacce Prize and winner of the 2019 Stephen A Dibiase International poetry prize.
The writers have multiple and varied backgrounds, Henry Gasko, author of Living in the Gleam of an Unsheathed Sword, was born in a displaced persons camp in Yugoslavia after World War Two, raised on a vegetable farm in Canada, and is now living in Australia (international law prohibits publishing an Apocalypse Anthology without at least one Australian).
The list also includes writers from New Zealand, the UK, Canada, USA, Texas to name a few. A book worth buying.
An incredible journey through short stories offered by some of the finest writers in the Undead or Zombie genre, this book brings you fear, surprise, laughter, and a yearning for more with each story. Tales so cold they will make you shiver these authors brought it all.
Horror resides in the crevasses of their minds, the uncanny grip on the unreal and the lengths people will go to just to survive. Created for those who love to be scared and fans of the Undead world we bring you:
