Great series, I watched the entire season daily while on my treadmill. I wish there were more seasons of Philly to "binge watch." Even though the season is a few years old, it was still really enjoyable to watch. Great characters who become your "friends" throughout the season. Although it's primarily a drama series, you are treated to some laughs and romance during the season. Thanks Amazon Prime for recommending this series to me and making it available on Prime!!

Quality television shows produced in the U.S. have been, sadly, rather difficult to come by, especially when compared with some of the excellent shows coming out of Britain and a few other European countries (e.g., Belgium, Scandinavia). Just when I was about to give up hope of ever again seeing a U.S. program that wasn't simplistic, sophomoric, and overly reliant on chases and special effects, I started watching Philly. What a delightful surprise. It has extremely good acting, complex character development, dynamic relationships that don't fall into easy good/bad delineations, scripts that don't resort to profanity every other word.. in other words, it goes for nuance versus "the bat over the head" when inviting the audience into the drama. Kudos to the team who created this!!

Why is there only one season? These are enjoyable characters in a "legal" show. If you are a fan of "Suits" and other legal dramas, you'll notice the same actors in several of these shows, though at not nearly the fast pace of "Suits". This series has likeable and interesting characters, the stories are entertaining, thought provoking, intriguing and interesting. There's also the fun element: some eccentric judges. I only wish there were more seasons of this show.

A riveting series with a stellar ensemble cast headed by the phenomenal Kim Delaney. Steven Bochco's "Philly" never lets up and is well grounded in one of America's great cities. Remarkable actors portray "Law & Order"-type episodes on steroids. Kyle Secor makes the best of what little time he has and Rick Hoffman @ Tim Everett Scott seem to be new stars on the tv horizon. Plus take a look at the actor that plays Judge Ripley. He immerses himself in the role and comes close to creating a character a la the late Steven Hill in Dick Wolf's series. Damn enjoyable courtroom drama. Light it up and enjoy!

As an individual, I enjoyed the shows and legal aspects they presented. However, there were some annoying points as well. The musical choice s of background music were terrible. Perhaps more appropriate for use at the circus. Also, it's annoying to have a review of past shows at the start of every show - particularly if you're watching every night on Amazon. Perhaps binging would even be worse. This was followed by a short introduction to the new show and then, the same intro of characters and shows same actions. Perhaps these are part of the reason that this 2002 show lasted only one season. Also annoying were the Philley city scenes ostensibly after commercial breaks for the original TV showings. More pluses are for Kim Delaney and other actors who tried to carry the story lines. Funny parts were the judges. One judge who had to have her dog with her in court. Another male judge who had the hots for Kim Delaney's character. Here comes the judge.

Being a long-time Philly resident, I found this show accurately captures life in Philly throughout various scenes and plots. It's a shame there is only one season - I believe there may have been more if not for the inopportune timing of 9/11 (since this show was shot in 2001). Kim Delaney captures what it can mean to be an Irish Catholic female surrounded by tough people who fight for and against the law in Philly courtrooms - and life outside. Other actors also capture the Philly "flair" beyond "Yo, Adrian!"....

Great cast, good writing and excellent direction. Good Wife meets NYPD Blue (sort of). Strong acting by all performers. I was drawn into this series, having never heard of it and I watched every episode with interest.

It's tough to compete in a field full of court room shows, and I guess that's why it only lasted one season.

The casting of this show, an essential aspect of any TV show, is the best. You will get a crush on Kim Delaney and/or her lawyer partner, but there is very little fluff in this show. The judges in the trials seem to be real people yet they are real "characters." I have nothing but praise for all of the actors and the director.

I am originally from Philly, so it is kind of interesting seeing some of the background scenes ...

It's nice to see the defense attorney's working for their clients because they really believe in them and not just because "its a job". It will restore your faith or belief in the "system" to actually work the way it is suppose to work.

The interpersonal relationships are great to see. It's not just about the legal system (although it is the basis for the series) but has some healthy relationships between ex's, children, as well as other attorney's (defense and prosecutors) and judges.

I haven't finished Season 1 yet, but I can't wait to see where it goes.
