POV: Multiple, but easy to follow

The author is not in the USA so beware spellings of things that may seem different if that throws you out of a story or certain phrasings! (example: tyres, magick, where she was sat.) It took me a second and I had to use my kindle feature to check I wasn’t missing something when she said tyres in the story! So you are warned!

Cliffhangers?: Yes! The book ends on SUCH A CLIFFHANGER!!! BUT it was so good and I am VERY EXCITED for the next book in the series!!

I was so kindly put on the ARC list for this book after finding it on TikTok and falling in love with it from a few quotes (such as: “When he’s got you on your back. Tattooing over the scars your ex gave you. And you tell him you saw him having s3x with his boyfriend. And he says: “Is that so? Then tell me, Little Star, did you like what you saw?””). I got access to the first few chapters from Clares’ author website and fell in love with the book and was waiting anxiously for the release day. I got the email I was an ARC reader with my copy and started it AND DEVOURED IT in a few hours. The book reads very fast and is very entrancing, I didn’t even realize I was almost done with the book until my shift was over and I had to pack up to head home. I LOVE Nova and her character development we see, as well as all of her men! They are so fricking hot and so different I loved it. I cannot wait to see how they interact in the future and how all the relationships develop in the series and how the prophecy plays out.

We are introduced to Nova, who is in an abusive relationship (we weren’t given a lot of details but it definitely could be triggering to some so please check the TW’s and go in knowing that) and her boyfriend who is in a league who DO NOT LIKE supers/people with any form of magick. She gets beaten and branded and ultimately finds a way to escape her situation and ends up in Phoenix Falls (a magic territory which definitely sounds like it has Mystic Falls [Vampire Diaries] vibes) where she meets the guys. Kole (who hot damn makes me hot as heck!)Tanner (who seems like such a golden retriever boyfriend), Mack (who is that hot professor we all love), and Luther (who seems very emotionally damaged/detached and doesn’t seem to show his feelings towards Nova to her specifically). She is immediately attracted to them all (I mean who wouldn’t be right?) and I love seeing her interact with the Harem considering her only relationship she’s ever been in was with her abusive ex who is causing A LOT of drama for the supers. I love the interaction we get between all the guys as well, I find some of them very intriguing and very attractive. We are given an MM scene and gosh damn that was HOT, HOT, HOT!!

This book was very interesting HOWEVER, I do feel that her switch from being a scared girl afraid of her ex to being IN LOVE with Tanner was VERY FAST. I noted it twice whilst reading. I also feel like the author was hastily giving us answers to problems that I feel should have been stretched out and delivered to us later and in a less obvious here's the answer way, I was also thrown off by one of the POV’s but that was later shown who it was and how it played into the book and the series. I also am in love with the cliffhanger ending! I cannot wait for it to be talked about in the next book the author plans to release not soon after this one!

Can I say I am absolutely 💯 glad this whole series is already out because I hate waiting for the next book in a series.
Also Storm(Scarlet Witch) is my fave female Avenger..and I feel once Nova gets a handle on her powers she is going to be the biggest baddie there is! I loved the development of the Male mages..and Daddy Mack is 👨‍🍳💋 hot!!! Polar Bear shifter I have never read and I am all for it!
The spice 😍 definitely steams between Tanner and Nova in the shower and the fountain scene the chemistry is insane! You can feel the bond from the very first moment Kole and Nova see each other , that red thread of fate that is prevalent in Asian stories can almost be seen hanging between them. I love books that explore fate and destiny and I hope mythology and maybe a Grimore is read at some point in the next books it would make the story line and plot so much richer.
The only small negatives is I wish Luther's backstory was explored more, I don't feel like we got to know him except in a police investigation mode. We didn't get to know what makes him tick .I can't wait to see more of these characters in book 2.

So the entire reason I picked up this book is because there is a Polar Bear in it. I mean I love shifters to begin with, and the premise of the book was intriguing, but I have never read a book with a polar bear shifter before so it was a no-brainer for me to pick this one up.
I really like the whole premise of this book. Magic and supernaturals are out and well known in the world, which of course means there are two different factions who want to keep them separate. Humans who hate magical people, and magical people who want to get rid of the humans. And a prophecy that will impact them all. I like the pacing and the reveal of the storyline as we go, and I think it was strong enough to keep me interested, and by the end of the book make me want to read the sequel.
As for the characters themselves, I really like Nova. She’s a girl who has really been beaten down by life and she is restarting her life somewhere else. She’s basically discovering who she really is along with finally coming into her own as a person. She’s likable, she vulnerable, but she also protects herself and pushes for the things she needs in life.
The men in this book was interesting. Tanner kind of reminds me of a cute puppy with how he is with Nova. Mack is older and the polar bear, and basically he’s my type for book boyfriend, there is nothing I don’t like about him. As for Kole and Luther I have more complex thoughts. Kole is in a tough situation, and it definitely makes things difficult for everyone, but I think it also really keeps me as a reader from getting to know him as he really is versus in a constant state of stress. That being said it’s important for the story so I’m okay with it. Luther is more of the big fat question mark. He’s kind of curt and super suspicious of everything, and I want to get to know him really badly, because I feel like there is so much more to him that we are yet to find out.
This kept my interest the entire time and I really enjoyed it. I already put the next book on my to buy list for when it gets released.

4 stars - 2 days to read or less. A book that I have quite enjoyed reading, feisty MC and some racy scenes with thier romantic interest. I would definitely follow a series and author for 4 star books.

The unfortunate thing about the prophecy trope is that the stories are predictable and i usually lose interest. However the prophecy in this book is a nice balance of the obvious (fated mates) and the ambiguous, and the author has handled how it fits in the story well. It's obviously important but there's enough going on that it doesn't become the sole focus. The romance was a slow-medium burn and I like that we still have a lot to learn about the guys, yet have a clear picture of their personalities.

Characters are relatable and easy to read.

This book caught my eye after a certain *desk* scene was featured on the authors TikTok videos and I found myself stalking her profile waiting for the release date. So her advertising is definitely working.

I loved this book and flew through it!

The mystery of who Nova is and what magick it is that she possesses has got the 4 hot mages that live in Phoenix Falls in a spin. Is she the Phoenix Prophecy come true? And if she is what does that mean for the them?

So far there's a definite connection between Nova and three of the mages, will she add Luther to that within the next book?

The desk scene did not disappoint nor did any of the other spice included. I cannot wait for Kole to get his hands on Nova properly.

I'm also looking forward to the way this series is being released. Not having so long between them will make up for the inevitable cliffhangers that I know will be coming!
