5.0 out of 5 starsBest and most comfortable compression socks at any price point
Reviewed in the United States on October 18, 2019
I work around 12-20 hours a day on my feet on concrete or steel. It’s hard and heavy labor at times and after many years it’s absolutely ruined my legs. I recently had surgery on my foot to put screws in my metatarsals after a displaced jones fracture. So getting back in the swing of using my newly reconstructed foot on top of deep vein thrombosis has been excruciating. These arrived today and there absolutely perfect. First off they’re extremely comfortable, well made, and attractive. Moments after putting them on the pain in my foot and legs instantly chilled out tremendously. The problem I had with most other brands of compression socks was the band at the calf/knee would always roll down when worn under pants but these stay put perfectly even when wearing tighter at the knee bootcut jeans. I’ve worn them for close to eight hours and usually by now I’m going crazy to get out of compression socks because they get so uncomfortable but these are so ridiculously comfortable that I may never take them off. These came to me in a day through prime so for the price this was a tremendous deal. Skip the gimmick ones you see at Walmart and other retail stores in the end cap displays promising you all sorts of nonsense. Delay the instant gratifying consumer urge and order these instead. You’ll save yourself money and a world of pain. Trust me, these are the compression socks that you need and want

I ordered 3 different pairs of compression socks and these were the worst! I’m a nurse and I’m on my feet almost all day so I really needed good compression socks to help my feet and prevent variocose veins. I tried Blitzu, SB Sox and Stamina. And here were my overall thoughts:

1) Fit (using their size guide)
Blitzu - Perfect fit, like a glove.
SB Sox - Perfect as well.
Stamina - Too long in the leg and the material bunched behind my knee, and also extra material at the toe.

2) Compression (all 3 were 20-30mmHg)
Blitzu - Strong, you really felt it the moment they were on, and that kinesiology taping design... my feet felt amazing. It really hugged your foot without constricting.
SB Sox - The strongest out of the 3, but not uncomfortably so. I will say they did their job and my feet felt good at the end of the day but I also couldn’t wait to take them off haha!
Stamina - Disappointing again! They were sort of compressing when I put them on, but it almost felt like they were losing their compression strength at the end of the day.

3) Material
Blitzu - Thicker yet breathable. I also liked the texture.
SB Sox - Not as thick but also really soft. Also the design of the sock didn’t leave the funny markings on your legs when you remove them.
Stamina - Thin and lightweight. Sort of reminded my of dress socks with extra elastic.

Overall, the winner for me was Blitzu with an extremely close 2nd with the SB Sox. The Stamina socks were really disappointing AND the most expensive! I really wonder if maybe I went a size down from their suggesting sizing if it would’ve made a difference, but at this point I’m sold on Blitzu. I think what made me like Blitzu more then SB was the kinesiology taping on the foot. They both had their own plus’s but at the end of the day the Blitzu socks were the only ones I didn’t want to take off and my feet felt amazing. I still really like the SB Sox and will continue to wear them, and it might just be a preference in wants/needs when deciding between them. The stamina socks on the other hand went straight in the trash, so disappointing. Literally felt like I was just wearing a tight dress sock that was made for someone 7 feet tall. Maybe you only need light compression and want something light weight, but for me I need it to work and my feet were trash at the end of the day.

1.0 out of 5 stars PHYSIATRIC EVALUATION
Reviewed in the United States on July 29, 2019

I am a retired MD-physiatrist. I have prescribed compression hose for vascular, neurological, orthopedic, and burn-related conditions hundreds of times over a 30-year career. I am also a patient and have relied on these stockings for the past 10 years. This review is independent. I receive no monetary gain from any source related to these products. I do this solely for the public benefit.

All of these stockings are knee-high. Thigh-highs are always the best, but patient compliance is terrible. I never wanted to wear them, and so I could not expect patients to do so.

These are all rated 20-30 mm of mercury in compression despite listings describing them as anything between “moderate” and “extra-firm.” Any product with less may be nice for comfort or cosmesis but will do little by way of therapeutic intervention.

RATINGS and observations:

1 JOBST for men knee high closed toe compression stockings, extra firm legware for all day comfort for males, with odor control technology.
The gold-standard but like gold, very pricey. Best fit and function. Best quality. Very plain in appearance. They need a “hike-up” once during the day. No loss of function after 10 uses and washes.

2 FUTURO restoring dress socks for men, firm compression, over the calf.
Definitely #2. One quarter the cost of Jobst. Good fit and function. Good quality. No daily hike-up needed. Nicer appearance than the Jobst. Excellent wear-and-tear. I used 3 pair continuously over one year in clinic and noted no loss of function. My neuropathic symptoms resolved over a few weeks of use. Of interest, Amazon’s rankings wherein the Physix below were rated #1 did not include the Jobst or Futuro.

3 GO2SOCKS compression socks for men women nurses runners medical stocking maternity travel.
Inexpensive. Can cause discomfort if not donned optimally but good therapeutic compression. Good quality and “daughter-impressing” appearance. No daily hike-up. No loss of function over 10 uses.

4 AMES WALKER AW styles 120 125 150 compression knee high socks.
Inexpensive (all are compared to Jobst). Excellent compression but painful after a few hours use despite adjusting fit. Good quality. Look like P.E. socks. No daily hike-up. No loss of function after 10 uses.

5 PHYSIX Gear compression socks for men & women graduated athletic fit for running, nurses, shin splints, flight travel & maternity pregnancy.
Definitely NOT #1. Inexpensive. Good fit but non-therapeutic compression. Nice appearance which with ease of donning undoubtedly accounts for their popularity. No daily hike-up. They give less compression after each wash. I cannot recommend these as a physician because of non-efficacy.

6 COPPER Compression Socks for men & women.
Cheap. Poor fit and little function. Poor quality. OK appearance. Hike-up N/A because they do not cover the calf with initial donning. They become looser with each wash and are no better than regular socks in function. Not recommended.

3.0 out of 5 stars Works well but leaves raw, red marks on skin - GOOD FOR LONG FLIGHTS.
Reviewed in the United States on January 16, 2018
Size: Small-MediumColor: Nude BeigeVerified Purchase
Long 17-hour flights seem to be my fate of late so I thought I'd try these at the behest of some of my acquaintance who were touchingly concerned, I thought, about DVT and my chances of developing one with constant travel. Door-to-door times to my destination often take up to 28 hours. Aspirin and elevating my feet in-flight have still left me with cankles that feel swollen and look puffy for days. Not my favourite look - cankles. No siree...

There was definitely less swelling at journey's end but a raw, red sock mark on the skin at the very top of the sock. Bloody hell, these were tight going on!!
I washed them first to loosen the fibres up a bit. I wasn't expecting a padded fit but these were surprisingly comfortable ONCE ON. Pull them up methodically and slowly, almost like you're doing a Pilates move vertebrae by vertebrae and you'll get them on alright.
These are not socks for fun or personal statements: these are COMPRESSION socks made for specific reasons.
Thank god for the variety of colours this firm makes. The standard offerings are black, beige and white. Nursey shades like in "Julia" - except that I'm not the divine Diahann Carroll, one of the only women alive who looked gorgeous in Fifties nursing regalia.

Listen, my feet felt fine after 2 legs of 5 hours and 17 hours flying time respectively. I had ZERO swelling and not a cankle in sight!
What I did NOT like was the look and the feel of the sock band etched red and raw into my skin and for that it can't get a '4-Star' rating I had to keep adjusting the top of the sock in-flight. And yes, I even bought the sock one size UP. Will go up a size on the next pair.

And there WILL be a next pair given the overall good results I had. I did however, keep wondering if the band eating into the skin was doing more damage than not. My calves aren't slender stems but they're not wide calves by any means.

Thank-you for taking the time to read these comments. I trust they help you somewhat.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad Quality - Holes after first wear
Reviewed in the United States on November 14, 2019

Wore them once and they were OK. This is my first set of compression socks so I don't have anything to compare them to. It was a little annoying that I had to keep pulling up the tops back over my knees. But, I wasn't terribly worried about that. I washed them and a week later put them on for my second use and noticed HOLES in both socks. As in, multiple holes in each.

I'm very disappointed with my purchase.

1.0 out of 5 stars Extremely Disappointed. They Don't Back Up Their Products, & Quality Control Issues
Reviewed in the United States on December 22, 2019
Size: Large-X-LargeColor: Black/GreyVerified Purchase
Perhaps I have high expectations. Nevertheless, in brief, I ordered two pairs in size large. One pair was damaged; it had a huge hole on top The other was too large. I am 6'1, however, the top of the sock went over my knee. I reached out to them and they replaced the damaged one for a newer one in size Medium which fit great. They would not replace or exchange the other non defective sock in Large for a Medium, even though the Large was over my knee, They suggested that I return that pair, pay full price and then they would refund me 50% off. However, I could not return the pair as it was laundered, thus I would be paying additional money just to get a size that actually fits. According to them, when all is said and done, I would be paying for two pairs full price and then another pair at 50% off. Still leaving me with only 2 pairs but paying for 3. Unacceptable. They don't guarantee their products as advertised. Nor do they guarantee "their fine products and service or my money back". I am gobsmacked here, as they actually want me to pay more money for a sock that did not fit!! I am not interested in paying additional money for a size exchange.
PS/ I never ever leave these kind of reviews, I am in the service industry, however, I feel like I was ripped off. Period.
