Titles By Piers Platt
War is hell…but sometimes it’s also funny as hell.
Combat and Other Shenanigans is Lieutenant Piers Platt’s firsthand account of his year as a cavalry platoon leader in Iraq. Wry, action-packed, and poignant, Combat and Other Shenanigans is the absurd-but-true story of the antics the world’s finest soldiers get up to when no one high-ranking is watching.
Interview with the Author
Q - What makes Combat and Other Shenanigans special?
A - There are a ton of great war memoirs out there today, and many cover the Global War on Terror / Wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. I don’t want to detract from any of those works, as they all tell an important aspect of the experience of being deployed. But my experience was a lot less action-packed and heroic, and a lot more about doing our best to get the job done, and keep ourselves from going stir-crazy in the process. We pulled some crazy stunts downrange when no one was looking. But the book is also a testament to the camaraderie and everyday heroism of the soldiers I fought with. I hope it's a realistic look at what the experience of war was like for the average combat soldier in Iraq.
Q - Why should readers give this book a try?
A - It's a fast, easy read - and it's laugh-out-loud funny at times. All of the stories are true. If you're a veteran looking to laugh and remember how ate up things were, or just someone wanting to get a better sense for "what it was like" for those of us that served, this book is for you.
Combat... is also a New York Times bestseller that has been downloaded more than 6,000 times, and has remained on the Amazon "Top Rated" and "Bestselling" lists in its category since publication.
Q - Have you written other books?
A - Yup! Check out my Amazon author page for the complete list, or my website: http://piersplatt.com/books (copy and paste into your browser).

Interview with the Author
Q - What makes the Janus Group series special?A - Growing up, I loved books like Ender's Game and the Tom Clancy Jack Ryan series. When I sat down to write the Janus Group books, I wanted to capture what I liked best about those books - sci fi thrillers or action thrillers in a fast-paced style. The series is best characterized as cyberpunk science fiction thrillers, with a little detective and police procedural elements thrown in to boot. Finally, I like my characters to be relatable, and facing overwhelming odds - the plot is action-packed, and keeps you guessing. Beware: plot twists ahead!
Q - What order should I read the books in?
A - Last Pursuit is a short story set in the Janus Group world - it's the prequel, and the story that inspired me to write a full series. You can read that first (for free), then Books 1-3 (Rath's Deception, Rath's Gambit, and Rath's Reckoning) in order from there. Books 1-3 are a complete story arc - Book 3 resolves everything from Books 1 and 2.
Q - Why should readers give these books a try?
A - Because the Janus Group books are fast, inventive, page-turners that kick ass and take names! They've been described as "Jason Bourne" meets "Bladerunner." Any fans of hitman books, science fiction assassin tales, or cyberpunk thrillers will enjoy them.
Q - Can readers get the whole series in one bundle?
A - Not yet - sorry, just haven't had a chance to get around to it! But sign up for my newsletter at http://piersplatt.com/newsletter (copy and paste into your browser), or follow me on my author page here at Amazon to find out when I do release a bundle.

Welcome Home is the short story of one man's struggle to maintain his innocence amid the brutality of the Vietnam War, torn between his family's expectations, his loyalty to his brothers-in-arms, and his own moral code.
Interview with the Author
Q - What makes Welcome Home special?
A - As a former Army officer and student of military history, I know that the guys who got drafted for Vietnam got a really raw deal. Aside from being sent to fight a war they didn’t volunteer for, when they returned home, they were shunned by the American public. I wanted to write a short story set during the Vietnam War that asked: what if there was a soldier who felt obligated to serve his country, but felt he couldn't kill another human being? How would he deal with that personal conflict?
Q - Why should readers give this book a try?
A - It's a short, fast read, and will appeal to all fans of military fiction, historical fiction, and literary stories about army veterans and the challenging situations we can and do experience.
Q - Have you written other books?
A - Yup! If you're into stories about the military, you should definitely check out Combat and Other Shenanigans, the NY Times-bestselling memoir of my year in Iraq as a tank and scout platoon leader. You can get it for free by signing up on my website.

Rath's Trial
Rath thought that defeating the Janus Group and stealing back his hard-earned fortune might help ease his guilty conscience. But when he returns to the planet Scapa to find the woman he loves, his past crimes finally catch up to him. And the police aren’t Rath's only concern: someone's put a price on his head. Rath will need to figure out who his new enemy is if he wants to stay alive. His old friend Beauceron can't help him - especially not when Rath's former colleague, Paisen Oryx, is the primary suspect in the detective's latest investigation. The three former allies each work to unravel the truth in a growing conspiracy … but will fate bring them together as friends, or enemies?
Rath's Rebellion
After he's found guilty of murder, Rath is saved from a death sentence by a mysterious new ally. His newfound friends have a daring plan to rekindle an old revolution, and they want his help. If it all works, Rath could clear his conscience at last, and pay his debt to society. But starting a rebellion will put him squarely in the sights of Beauceron and Paisen as they rush to prevent the looming war. And even Rath's best-laid plans can go astray …
Rath's Redemption
Rath's short-lived rebellion has gone horribly wrong. The Senate lies shattered, devastated by a surprise attack. The Federacy sits at the mercy of General Yo-Tsai, a brutal dictator who now controls a super-weapon. Above the planet Tarkis, Rath drifts helplessly in orbit, watching as the Jokuan invasion fleet descends on his homeworld. His girlfriend has been captured, he's running out of air, and he's just a single man against an entire army. But he's also the galaxy's most dangerous assassin … and he's very, very pissed.
A dozen science fiction writers, including New York Times and USA Today bestselling authors, offer remarkable tales in this third collection of space opera stories presented under the Beyond the Stars banner.
BEYOND THE STARS: At Galaxy's Edge contains the following short stories:
* The Good Food (Michael Ezell)
