just so so

The first third of the film is probably the strongest. It definitely gets weaker as it goes along to the point where the last act really makes no sense at all. The whole story just kind of crumbles into nonsense. But the main performances were all pretty good throughout and there is a decent amount of genuinely funny stuff especially in the first half of the movie.

Definitely not a strong recommend by any means but its not outright horrible.

Irish Gangster Flick
Verified purchase
This is a movie about Irish gangsters, some of whom are priests and nuns.
Pretty much all the characters are gangsters, although some are nastier than others.
There's not much new here. Our heroine (if that's the word) promotes crime mostly to be able to get far, far way. Her father is a gangster who went dormant some years back, but has no problem going active again to help her. And so on.
And that's the problem: I've /seen/ this before. Not the exact same film, certainly, or even a film with the exact same plot, but all the elements were things seen elsewhere.
Lovely scenery, though.
And, if you really like this sort of film, you should find it entertaining.

Pixie - She's smart and more importantly a master manipulator
Verified purchase
Pixie is a crime drama about Olivia Cooke/Pixie taking off with two hapless guys Ben Hardy and Daryl McCormack who unexpectedly came across a whole bag of drugs. They romp around Ireland trying to get rid of it which only gets them into more trouble. Cooke shines in her role as the brains behind the haphazard outfit. She’s smart, she’s a bit ruthless plus she’s completely manipulative which actually proves quite easy with Hardy and McCormack who are like kids playing with adults. Even better is Alex Baldwin as the leader of a gun totting crew of priests and nuns. There are of course plenty of light moments and jokes thrown in as well. It’s a nice take on the genre.

Alright

Overall it wasn't too bad. A little slow at times and the characters were pretty cookie cutter and one dimensional, not to mention the bad accents. It did have a few comedic moments but not enough for me to recommend spending $6 on it. Maybe $1

Don't waste your money

It was the worst movie ever made, the trailer looked funny but there wasn't anything funny in the first 20 minutes and we stopped watching. Kept thinking it was going to get better, never happened.

Quirky disjointed foreign fun

Olivia Cooke always a joy to watch. Was as a bit off the path you would expect sometimes and wenr on a bit for some scenes, but was entertaining enough that you should be sure to catch the ending!

Clever story line that’s full of twists. Enjoyed the acting and direction and of course scenic vistas set in Ireland.
