dont sleep.. not just another hood movie
Verified purchase
solid 5 stars, if you know what youre looking at. this is a low buget hood movie.... youre not going to get the caliber of cinematoghaphy of a power, nor the star level of acting.... there is no James St Clair here. but its a really good movie. to MURDA PAIN, if you're reading this review, some constructive criticsm foryou. just 2 small things. make the cops more believable. the movie should have ended after he gave lil bro the phone.
if you stopped there, we all would have anxiously awaited part 2 `. cuz we need a storyline about how Carmen gets out of jail and gets back at her girlfriend. and lil bro takes over from Lorenzo

all in all great job!!

Yes it has a drama, but with all the treachery and cheating, it has honesty and rawness...

I wasn't sure how or if I would enjoy this, but...I truly did.
It is a wonderful, honest, thought-provoking and real movie.
It has you thinking about scenes long after you are onto the several more and I will be watching this again.
The main two love interests relationship **spoiler alert**is based on one person's infidelity (which the synopsis failed to properly disclose.)
But, the story sucks you in powerfully and you are rooting for these two...now about the ending...I can tell you that it was a quadruple whammy for me...there was the couple being caught out by supposed friend, then a cold-blooded ending, with set up that left me speechless after that and then yet fourth twist...so hang onto your seatbelt.
***side note: and the lead actor/actress both had incredible chemistry!

The acting and the writing were great.

And unlike other reviewers, I place this on my list with Black Butterfly (*formerly was on Netflix years ago for free) and Dear Amber (*was free on Prime a few weeks a back in early April of 2018) as movies with dramatic tragic endings that are actually a keepers, as far as haunting you with the powerful messages they portray, and thus can be watched again.

There are lessons in this movie that will stay with you.

Great writing for a local Indie Movie
Verified purchase
Great writing for a local Indie Movie, I've seen many local movies and I would have to say that the sound quality and acting was good enough for me to watch all the way through without any disappointments. Would definitely like to see more from this writer and director. Other Detroit writers and movie makers need to take notes!!!! Good Job over all!!!

Unexpectedly a good movie, although a little predictable.

When I first heard of this movie I was interested in it but the first time I tired to watch it, it didn't pull me in. However I am happy that I gave it a second shot. It turned out much better than I thought it would be and I ended up really enjoying it. The story line while simple is good enough to hold the movie together. I wish they would have expanded a little more on the characters background, like Carmen;s father, instead of throwing it in as plot filler. I also liked how average looking guys were used. It made the movie seem more organic and thus more appealing. As expected Murda was my favorite character. And while some things that happened in the story was obvious from the beginning, the ending caught me off guard, (a little).

I like this cause it posed a question, wold you stay what the man who gave you what you wanted material wise or choose the man who gave you everything you needed?

This is definitely a movie I have to add to my collection at some point.

How vulnerable we humans are to one another
Verified purchase
When I watch a film I try not to let my head get filled with thinking about stereotypes and judging too much. I see the film as about a certain group of individuals living in a specific place and time, and what motivated them to make their choices. Also how just how predictable and unpredictable we complex humans can be at the same time, and the enormous vulnerability we all share with one another. This is the first film of this genre I have ever watched, and if it speaks to anything I believe it is not counting the cost of ones actions, and not knowing the mind of the enemy you believe is your friend. But also, How desperately people need to forgive one another. I believe there are many people out there from every ethnic group and background that make the same mistakes. I don't think I will view another film of this genre. I don't enjoy a lot of bad language, but it seemed necessary to this film's authenticity. FYI I am a retired non-African American individual.

For low budget, it's pretty good
Verified purchase
This is not a review about the content of the story line. Many of the things shown in this movie are bad concepts (drug dealers, gold diggers, accepting bad behavior), but let's be real, they happen and they happen just like they showed in this movie. This is a review of the movie itself.

I have watched a lot of low budget and B movies. Most of them are horrible. For some, it's the writing for others. it's the acting and for still others, it's the plot. This movie did not have any of those issues.

Most writing in B movies is bad because the writers are trying to be fancy instead of telling the story. They have their characters saying things most people would never say and it seems fake. Whoever wrote this script did an excellent job. The flow of the words was great and the dialogue was believable. It wasn't just a bunch of people using slang terms to seem cool.

The actors who act in B movies, don't have a lot of experience. So, the acting is usually pretty bad. That was evident for some of the actors in this movie, but for most of the actors (which is so rare if you watch a lot of these low budget movies) they were good. I believed the characters they were playing and they didn't over dramatize. Some of the secondary characters were a little over the top, but those main characters were on it.

The plot in a lot of these movies always has sex and a lot of violence and not a lot of substance. If you watch a lot of low budget films, you notice that it seems the writers get lost in their own story or their transitions always seem weak. This story actually told a story. When they changed locations, you didn't wonder how they go there; when they went to another character's story, it linked with the characters we just saw and when they added in sex and violence, it made sense to the story.

I was not sure about this movie when I first chose it, but I like to watch to see what people who are new to writing and acting can do. This was a really good movie and I am impressed. I gave it four stars because it was not perfect, but it was close.

Only a few minor characters were poor actors, but all the main actors/actresses were amazing

I was avoiding watching this movie for months because I thought it was going to be a typical indie hood movie. I was right about the hood movie. But I was completely surprised by the high level of acting and be livability of all the characters other than the police (portrayed rather clownish). Only a few minor characters were poor actors, but all the main actors/actresses were amazing. Hats off to another hidden Amazon gem.
