And her mother, Cindy, a yoga instructor in the Pinehills, an exclusive golf community in Plymouth.
They’ve just inherited Court Street Investigations, a private detective agency.

After her father's death, Emma and her mom inherit Court Street Investigations a popular Private Investigation firm in Plymouth, Mass. With the help of a 80 year YOUNG retried detective they had it all under control for your basic cheating spouses, fraudulent workmen comp cases.
They were not expecting to be hired to locate a missing person which ended up being a murder investigation.
Having been to Plymouth, the descriptions were spot on and added such a small town feel element to this mystery. The description of the food alone made me hungry.
The characters were well developed and fleshed out .
But the mystery stole the show. I really loved how little clues were dropped at a perfect pace.
Sit back, follow the clues and enjoy a fantastic Mystery . Here is hoping another book in this series is coming.
I cannot recommend this book enough!
I love the cover, the attention to details, the characters, and the setting. The author makes me feel like I'm in the setting, a place I've always wanted to visit but never had the chance, although I've been to Boston and a few of the surrounding areas. She kept me guessing until the end and I closed the book, wishing it would continue, but not because of a dreaded cliffhanger. The book was satisfactory as a stand-alone, but I look forward to the next adventures in this exciting new series.
Pacing is fast. Would make a great summer read -- or whenever! Problems? She makes me want to go back to restaurants and traveling, something I can't do considering current situations. I highly recommend.
The agency consists of Emma, her mom, Cindy, and an older retired police detective who is nearing 80 years old, Mickey.
She was a semi-successful actress with some small parts and a few commercials under her belt.
But, at almost thirty years old, she knew she would probably never make a name for herself in Hollywood.
One of her first cases is from a mother of a young lawyer who disappeared and has not been heard from in several weeks.
Shortly after starting the case, the young women's body washes up on the shore.
The girl's mother wants them to continue with the case as the police aren't moving fast enough for her.
This was a fun story with defined characters, a little humor, and a few red herrings are thrown in also.
It is a slow paced story that kept my attention throughout.
To me its reads between a cozy and traditional mystery, with it leaning just a little closer to a traditional one.
One of the nicer things in the story is it doesn't follow the cut stamp of the main character falling for the police detective and him having to come and save the day at the end of the book.
This time it's her mother who is developing a relationship with the officer.
And while she still works for the agency, it's a nice change.
