It’s not in English but there were subtitles.

It’s a bit too long and that cost it a star plus they added a little too much melodrama in the last half hour. Otherwise, it’s a very interesting story of dance and what turns one from the classical to the more contemporary. There’s a lot of dancing so it may not appeal to everyone.

Don't miss this gem!! An incredible movie! A coming of age exploration through dance. What a gift to be given to be a dancer and what a will Polina had to explore it to the depth that she does given all the constraints put upon by family and culture. The culminating dance is a summation of her lifelong struggle to find her own dance expression and a ode to her life. Absolutely gorgeous to experience Polina's choreography!

I don't like to give a 1 star review to what looks like a very promising movie. However, it is a foreign language film, Russian and French, and there are no subtitles. On 9/20/18 I spoke to someone in amazon customer service, so this may (or may not) be remedied. If I get an opportunity to watch it with subtitles, I will update my review. I really hope that opportunity arises, as the cinematography and acting were good enough that I didn't stop watching immediately, even though I couldn't understand any of the dialogue. I may even have gotten as far as a half hour in.

Entertaining movie with beautiful dance sequences exploring an individual's struggle to maintain her integrity as a dancer and also highlighting the differences between classical Russian and modern ballet.

Nice story. Long and detailed and not enough dancing but definitely a pleasure to watch.
