I won’t be gifting this book to him, and this is why:
The 5 page long story is written exclusively from the voice of a female character. The entire storyline is the string of material gift she received for Valentine’s Day. The typical chocolates, card, flowers, etc. There is ZERO mention of gifting to anyone/ reciprocation, or the different Types of love we hold for different people in our lives.
The story concludes when an unnamed boyfriend shows up at the door and gives the lead character a kiss.
Certainly not the worst ever, but I don’t like the ideas that the story conveys. I don’t want the responsibility of reinforcing these stereotypes, especially to a child that I don’t personally parent.
