Positively Izzy Audio CD – MP3 Audio, May 1, 2018
|New from||Used from|
Award-winning cartoonist Terri Libenson follows up her debut, the national bestselling, hybrid full-color graphic novel Invisible Emmie, with another hilarious and heartfelt story of two middle school girls struggling with friends, crushes, family expectations -- and surviving the school talent show. Izzy is the dreamer.She can never quite focus enough to get her schoolwork done. She wishes her mom (and annoying big sister) would get off her back and appreciate her for the one thing she's really good at: theater. Bri is the brain.While she's proud of her excellent grades, she wishes people would see there's more to her than just a report card full of As -- the way her awesome BFF, Emmie, does. The girls' lives converge in unexpected ways on the day of the school talent show, which turns out to be even more dramatic than either Bri or Izzy could have imagined.

Like her first novel, Libenson tackles another adolescent topic: labels. Sometimes it’s nice to be known as “the brain” or “the drama girl” but these can prove to be too confining. There are plenty of things that we can be interested in and even excel at outside of our comfort zone. That’s always a positive takeaway even for adults. I also liked how the author carried the dual narrators into this novel as well. Hoping she’ll have something new for us this summer!
