I'm a little disappointed in the translation. I understand their reasoning in choosing to translate the names of places (eg Hogwarts becomes Poudlard) and it does allow readers to form an understanding missing from the Mandarin version, which translates the names phonetically rather than for meaning. Translating the names of characters also makes some sense but, in my opinion, there is an odd mix of character names chosen. However I really don't get the change of name for the book. If they were concerned about younger readers not understanding what the philosopher's stone is surely following the route many other countries took calling it Harry Potter and the magic stone or wizard's stone would have made sense?
Despite my dislike of some of the choices made by the translator I still recomend this to people wanting to read a story in French. It is a brilliant story to practice your language skills with.
