I'm not sure of the author's targeted demographic regarding readers, but it doesn't seem as though it's written for adults experienced with personal interactions, or who have learned to control their emotions to any reasonable degree. Much more often than not the reactions and emotions described for the characters are what I'd expect a young teen to perceive and describe. This might be better written for teens who haven't yet acquired much worldly experience. Maybe it was, I dunno.
I came very close to stopping reading it at any number of points, and I've been a voracious Sci-fi/fantasy reader since I bought my first sci-fi paperback for 25 cents in elementary school.
For the moment I'm reluctant to order the next in the series, even if it were a 99 cent book.
That type of tediousness is found throughout, especially with never ending hand-to-hand fighting and space battles that go on for pages with monotonous blow-by-blow narratives,
Another example of the numerous anachronisms – MAGNETIC boots and STEEL floors in interstellar ships.
Then there’s the superficial characters with personalities that range from unrealistic megalomania rage to equally unrealistic altruism. And almost every brief chapter of the excessive plot lines ends with a contrived cliff hanger that is easily resolved in the next return to that plot line.
Erratic, confusing and unbelievable.
Studying the hieroglyphs of the pyramids, Kaden Jaxx has been fairly successful in understanding the ancient writing and is about to publish his scholarly findings.
There are some people who want Kaden Jaxx's knowledge, not just of the Pyramids but of his forgotten years working for the Secret Space Project overseen by the Global Safety Administration. There is a good sequence on breaking computer security that every network administrator is aware of: people writing down passwords.
A psychiatrist helps to reveal hidden memories, a younger than usual Alzheimer's sufferer and an explanation of the periodic re-occurrence of rising water levels on earth.
To compound the complexity, we are also introduced to an alien species on an earth-like planet that has developed even more fantastic technology. And the GSA wants to take over the alien's home planet.
As the earth is about to sink into another underwater catastrophe, what would you do? Politicians have enabled their savior and he is delivering on his promise.
The intrigue is well done. Downplaying miraculous health technology and information technology is disappointing. There are four more books that follow in this adventure series.

The characters seemed to do things for the most bizarre of motives, if there was motive at all.
The physics and astronomy have not been researched, with some fairly schoolboy errors that detract and annoy (for example, you don't "bank" to turn a spacecraft - there's no air resistance, and while there is an oxygen atmosphere on Callisto, it's of the order of 7.5x10**-12 atmosphere pressure - hardly a friendly place to set up shop).
Grammar and spelling could have benefited from using an editor (e.g. "waived" someone over - really!).
EDITED to add: I have up reading this at about 60% of the way through ... the plot and characters, grammar, spelling and physics just got more and more ridiculous.
I don’t enjoy reading bad language, it spoils any book for me
