First and foremost I liked the plot of the book, and for the most part liked the characters. They each had their own quirks that made them relatable. However, I didn’t really feel the connection between Eric and Piper, because the progression of their relationship seemed off. It was almost as if the author couldn’t decide to take their relationship slow or make it more of an insta-love situation. Not to mention, it was kind of frustrating retreading the same issues over and over. How many times did the heroine need to hear the hero say he’s had a thing for her forever? And still be shocked EVERY TIME he repeated himself?!? Basically every private conversation the H and h had in the book was the same.
All of that though I could forgive. All of that I could over look and still give this book a decent rating. What killed the book for me, as crazy as it sounds, is the authors casual use of the words “fellow” and “lover”. I don’t know which word she used the most but every time I ran into either of those words it pulled me out of the story. Honestly, the over the top stalker/suspense/unrequited love plot to me is way more realistic than the constant use of fellow and lover. I mean she could have at least used “guy” or “man” a couple of times to break up the fellow usage. Or tossed out “ex” or “that guy I slept with” some. 🤷🏻♀️
I will say, though, that I have read worse. So not a total fail. If the author got rid of all the fellows and lovers BS I could see giving it ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️. However, because I had to mentally write out both of those terms every time I came across them I’m giving the book two stars.
The guy was supposed to be all badass but got played by the bad guy until the last chapter. The heroine playing hard to get and the guy acting possessive just did not bring the romance development to being steamy. Couldn't connect with characters. A lot of telling instead of showing on this book.
I read some of this author's older books and I felt the steamy romance development and the actions. This one was a dud for me. The romance was too cheesy and the mc alpha was outwitted in the end.
Ended up being a boring read and ended up flipping the pages until the end. I will still read this author's other books though. If you don't mind cheesy romance with annoying female, you might like this book.
Only to be crushed, when he arrived with another girl, on his arm. She was crushed, hurt, and humiliated. She swore off relationships, that day. They only break your heart, just like her alcohol mom always said, before she killed herself, driving drunk. Yet, when you fast forward, you find out, why Eric from that day on, acts like a jerk to her.
But, when it needs to count, he has always been there. It's just when you have a little brother rivalry, going on for the same girl's affection, it makes men crazy. One wants to keep her as a best friend, not wanting to share her time with especially his brother so, fills her with embellished truths to keep her, from wanting him outwardly. On this day, Ben needed him professionally, because he knew, that he is the best, in the business.
When he arrives, what he thinks he is going there to be told doesn't ring true, it is the furthest from the truth. Changing his mindset, and his determination to not be sitting back, and allow what he has always wanted, to slip away. And when he walks into her apartment, he is beyond angry, and fearful for Piper’s life. But, finding out it's not the first time, truly burns from, the inside out. Not wanting to feel obligated, to a man who has shown her nothing, but contempt toward she tries to divert him, away from being there and needing his help.
Eric is used to being in charge since, owns one of the largest, and best security agencies in Atlanta. He called his VP, Simon, and he was on the case before, she could even think of a reason not, to stay with him. Of course, Ben hated that idea. When Eric explained, he had the highest of technology and safety record, did he have to mention his gate security system? Ben, does back down and talks Piper into it.
This story had me going almost until the end as to who was Piper’s stalker. Extremely good book. It a free read on Amazon today. Very cool

I did start to enjoy the story at about 50% as that's is when the intrigue became more exciting and believable and I began to enjoy piper and Eric's relationship and their characters became a bit more 3 dimensional except for Ben's character as he seemed to lack substance to me and he always popped up out of the blue and wasnt needed to enjoy the story.
overall it was an okay read from an author I usually love and I'm not sure I would read another book in this series.
Piper is an artist and owns her own gallery. She’s talented, lively, warm and compassionate. However, she’s pretty closed off to the idea of romance due to the disaster of her parents marriage. Her best friend Ben has been by her side since they were in nursery school and his family warmly welcomed her into their house throughout their childhood. Ben’s older brother Eric was someone who fascinated her and at the same time frustrated and hurt her.
When her house is broken into and all her possessions destroyed, Ben insists on calling Eric who has a successful security firm. Eric insists that Piper come and stay at his very secure home so he can protect her. Piper doesn’t realise that Eric has hidden his feelings for her from everyone since they had that first kiss because of a misunderstanding and now she is danger he refuses to stay away any longer.
This is your typical romantic suspense novel with the MFC in danger and the MMC swooping in to protect her. What is different is the history between the main characters as they have known each other since early childhood. Throughout the novel we find out more about their previous encounters and how they each perceived them. The characters are interesting, if a little two dimensional in places. The main focus of the book is the plot and the ‘whodunnit’ aspect of narrative. There are twists and turns to keep you guessing but I did work it out a little earlier than the author might have liked. The reveals were still well done and I enjoyed them despite having worked it out in advance.
This is a good entertaining read, with some heat and drama and when I’m in the mood for something like this again, I’ll happily read the next book in the series.
This book is about Piper and Eric, who have known each other since they were kids. Piper is Eric’s brother’s BF and she has always believed he disliked her - this isn’t the case and when Piper becomes the target of some psycho, Eric steps in to offer her protection. The book is relatively fast past and keeps the pages turning, however it lost a star because the heroin could portray as being pretty annoying, obtuse and her actions didn’t make sense in certain situations. She didn’t come across as being strong and independent, just stupid and petulant.
Pipers home has been ransacked and she admits to feeling watched her best friend Ben calls in his brother, Eric, who owns a security business. Eric has loved piper from afar for years assuming that her and his brother would get together. When the the threat on her is made known to him he can’t hold back any longer and lets piper know exactly how much he wants her. As the stalker ups the ante the race is on to find out who it is before anyone else gets hurt.
The dynamic between the characters was good. It felt evenly balanced. At first I was confused by the relationship of piper and Eric as he seemed to appear from nowhere and take over and didn’t seem to be properly introduced but as the story went on more is revealed and it makes more sense. The suspense was very good. It kept me guessing. All in all really enjoyed this book and would recommend
