We use millions of words to describe things we love. Out of all those words the one that instantly comes to mind to describe “The Protègè” by Brianna Hale is Perfect! This book is absolutely Perfect!!! It is so beautifully written. Lazlo and Isabeau are a couple that you can connect to in an instant. Their love story is not convenient but oh so magical. The way they fit together is so phenomenal! This is a couple that was made for each other. Through all the hard times they went through they still only cared for each others happiness. You can feel the want between them and when they play together the sparks Fly off the pages!! This story is perfection! There really is no other word that can describe this!

“But I fell in love with Isabeau in between the music”

I fell so hard in love with this book! Isabeau and Laszlo have stolen my heart. I am so in love with them. They are a couple who will stick with me for a long time! This is one of my Favorite reads of this year!! Their journey from beginning to end was challenging and beautiful and so worth every minute! Isabeau and Laszlo go through so much heart ache to get to where they are. I was hooked on them from the very beginning and my heart broke right along with them but they also put all the pieces of my heart right back together.

“I felt a longing for him so great it was almost unbearable.”

Even through the heart ache they managed to fight for their happiness. This was such a sexy read as well. Laszlo man, he knows what he wants and exactly how to give it!! It was so sexy!! Their chemistry can light your kindle on fire!! They are so perfect for each other!! I love that once Isabeau discovered what she wanted with Laszlo’s help she wasn’t afraid to ask for it. She took what she wanted. It was so freaking hot!!!

This book is truly wonderful. It is everything I didn’t know I was looking for. I am so in love with this story and I always will be. I highly recommend you pick this one up and give it a read. Even if its not your “thing” you should still read it it might just surprise you! This book is EVERYTHING!!!!!!!

The Protégé by Brianna Hale is a complex and beautiful love story. Isabeau Laurent was only eight years old when her life changed literally overnight. Picked up from the street, her raw talent as a cellist was honed to perfection as she grew into a beautiful young woman. She was a young woman who had fallen in love with her guardian, her music maestro. Life was going good yet a mistake cost her everything she ever wanted and she was determined to fix it. Laszlo Valmary knew talent when he saw one and to him Isabeau had it in spades. One thing that tested his control and left him out of tune was his own attraction to his young protégé. But when Isabeau dared to go further in their relationship, Laszlo didn’t know what to think and it ended their guardian/ward relationship until Isabeau came back into Laszlo’s life. Will he accept the love she gives or will he continue to push her further away? This is a beautifully written, complex romance that centers around a DD/lg dynamic. You have an older male/ young woman trope going on with the added icing of DD/lg going on. This is one hot, dark. intriguing, angsty, and passionate. The way BDSM is worked into the story is amazing and quite intriguing. I enjoyed every moment of Isabeau and Laszlo’s 2nd chance romance. It is a must read!!!!

Brianna Hale’s ‘The Protégé’ is a story that draws you in from the very first sentence, the reader’s journey unraveling and progressing alongside the two protagonists that you cannot help but fall in love with, Isabeau and Laszlo.
After three long years, Isabeau has returned to London to tell the man that has never been far from being central in all her thoughts that she is sorry, that things were said, mistakes were made, but that without him, she doesn’t know who she is any longer. Of course, nothing is ever that simple. After a series of brief misunderstandings, and the start of some new forthright communication, Isabeau joins Laszlo’s orchestra on a tour of Asia. Time, new and different circumstances, and the exotic locale all tie into but are only small drops in the deep pool of feeling that ripples between the maestro and his protégé. They are reminded that together they are stronger, giving one another what each so desperately craves and needs to be whole, but is it enough?
This story takes you on an evocative rollercoaster through the then and now, showing the growth, the emotion, and all that is said and left unsaid. It made me smile, it made my heart ache and rejoice, it made me want to reach into the story to comfort and to scold, to be scolded for being impatient, and comforted when the story would reach that next moment of joy. Obviously, this kind of kink isn’t for anyone, but I can say with 100% certainty that it certainly did it for me! The story is incredibly well written, the characters three dimensional, the emotion reading as real on the page, even when some characters are at their most reserved, because they think it’s what’s best. You won’t regret reading this!

It started out so, so good! The tension, and how the back story played out, and watching them both tip-toe towards honesty with each other. And then it just dived head first into hardcore intensity for like a single scene, then got cheesy and also confusing, and ended cringey.

I seriously skimmed the "big scene" at the end because it was so ridiculous.

So disappointed! I really liked both characters and the storyline was good. The last third could have stuck to something less dramatic and would have been a better book for it. There was already enough going on to have a torturous will-they-won't-they ending without throwing something that wasn't a big part of the story in at the very end.

I adored the main characters Laszlo and Isabeau. For me the story was a page turner and kept me gripped from the beginning to the end. The story was well written, and even if the book went from past to present it worked. I enjoyed the build up, even if he was 17 years older than her, it all pieced together beautifully like their music!
