For when Kane Kayrs tracks down Amber Freebird, what he finds is a blonde, vegan pacifist who has no intention of using her skills in his war....
A Time for Love....
Amber enjoys her life of chaotic freedom and has no intention of falling in line just because a sexy-as-sin vampire insists on order. Unfortunately he discovers she may be the only hope they have of finding his brother, and there's no way he's going to let her go - even if it means mating her to gain her cooperation. Amber was extremely naive, and her constant denial of the circumstances and who she was got on my nerves. I apparently have no patience for pacifists, which is a little unsettling but I figure I can deal. I grew to like Amber’s character much more once she accepted her gifts and began working to understand them. She and Kane were actually a great couple and I liked them both very much at the end.
I wasn’t a fan of Amber’s grandmother Hilde. I think her character was supposed to be written as humorous but she came across as a horny hypocrite. The Janie, Zane and Kalin storyline is heating up and I can’t wait to see if it plays out the way I am hoping. Jase broke my heart. I have much love for his character and I’m anxious to get to his book so I see how his story plays out. The man deserves some serious happiness after what all he’s been through.
That being said, this was my least favorite book so far. I found it kind of hard to connect to Kane, and couldn't connect to (or really like) Amber at all. She was a freaking vegan hippie who lived in a commune, for heaven's sake. Ugh. I found her to be totally annoying and not a good addition to the vampire mates. So, the whole deal with the two main characters got things off to a bad start for me. If I can't like the main characters, there's usually not much hope for me really enjoying a story. I think I could have liked Kane better if he had wound up with a more interesting (and way less annoying) mate.
The main character issues aside, this was a well-written and engaging story that still managed to hold my interest throughout. I highly recommend reading these books in order so you'll have all of the pertinent backstory info going in. Rebecca Zanetti is an excellent writer and story teller, so I highly recommend her as an author.
I really enjoyed these two. Amber was smart, sassy, and a pacifist. She is extremely attracted to Kane but refuses him multiple times because he doesn’t believe in love. I loved that she always stood up to him because he really needs someone who will do that. Kane was so stubborn throughout the whole book because he refused to admit his feelings. When he finally did he didn’t hold back though. Amber’s abilities were quite fascinating and I can’t wait to see how they will play into the future books.
We also get Jace’s perspective in this book, which is heartbreaking. I really hope he can recover from all the damage the demons did to him.
Fun, fast paced PNR series. Great storyline, characters and suspense. Insta-love, mates for life, possessive Alphas and grotesque evil foes. There are Vampires, Shifters, witches, Demons and more. This is a continued storyline focusing on a different couple per book.
I really loved the first half of the this book. Amber wasn't aware that she is an "advanced" human and Kane thought she was just trying to hide it. Amber's reactions to Kane and thinking he was insane was very comical and made for an enjoyable read.
The second half of the book was still good, but it turned funny to serious and I was just so disappointed in Kane. He's one of those very, logical males who don't take stock in fate or love. I really was looking forward to seeing him get knocked on his ass by his mate, but that just didn't happen. He denied, denied, denied. I'm not a fan of that especially since it usually hurts the heroine when this happens.
Overall, still a really good book, just compared to the previous books I wasn't thrilled with how Kane handled himself in the second half and that brought down my star rating.
I Only gave it 3 stars because it felt disjointed, like the author couldn’t tell if this was a sex bomb, humor, paranormal fighter, or love story. Maybe a bit of all that, but the occasional change of tempo or tone left me feeling confused.

The years have move on yet a little more with the present war, Janie is now 21, Garrett is a 15yr old boy and Kane and Emma are still working on a cure for the virus.
In this book we have less of Kane in the lab and its more in the open or in his bedroom followed by a little time in Scotland.
The vampires have finally found their weapon against the demons with Amber Freebird and her grandmother, however logical Kane does not understand his feelings towards Amber and finds himself strangely reluctant to put her in any danger.
Amber is spunky and does not put up with Kane's bossiness and is a also a vegan and has Kane eating Tofu and thinking about other things.
There is quite a bit of action in this book and we get to see more of Janie, Zane and Kalin in the dream world, we also get some of the story in Jace's point of view with his time with the Demons.
I was really happy that they managed to get Jace back and cannot wait to have his story told and how he recovers and the war progresses.
Kane is the midddle Kayrs brother and he's always seemed very straight laced, he's a scientist and if he can't measure something in a lab then it doesn't exist. However he is a Kayrs afterall and that means he is a trained warrior, his idea of fun is to hunt down werewolves. When Kane is charged with finding the Demon Destroyer there is a lot at stake. His baby brother, Jase was captured by the demons almost four years prior and has been tortured daily, they have no idea if they will find him alive or if his mind will survive. They need the Demon Destroyer's help to save him from captivity. When Kane finally tracks the Demon Destroyer down she is nothing like what he expected.
Amber is nearing the end of her shift at the bar when she feels someone watching her, she fels an instant attraction to the stranger but when he opens his mouth and starts talking about vampires and demons she thinks he belongs in the loony bin.
Can Kane win Amber's trust? Can the fiesty Amber get Kane to loosen up an believe in the unmeasurable?
I thorughly enjoyed this book, I loved seeing Kane so out of sorts when faced with Amber. She was perfect for him. My heart broke for Jase, he's been the Kayrs brother that has intrigued me from the start, I can't wait to get to know him better. The triangle between Janie, Kalin & Zane is really starting to get interesting. Now that Janie isn't a litte girl anymore. Their story is what the whole series is building for and it's going to be epic.

ambers character was whiney and annoying, I Couldn't get into This story at all but I did read it all and the only parts of the story that held my interest were the subplots with janie and jase.
