I hate Ellie. I like the plot overall. Hard to believe the guys are in high school but there isn’t much about the school anyway so it’s easy to forget. But yeah, Ellie was pathetic. There were a couple times a thought we’d see some growth- some hints and reactions leading up to some serious character development. But, then she’d devolve into being pathetic again. I couldn’t stomach it and skimmed through more than half of the book to see how it ends. The cliffhanger wasn’t strong enough for me to want to read the next installment.

Seriously, the only saving grace here are the guys. The possessiveness, jealousy amongst them and robustness of their faithfulness towards their girl is breathtaking.

But seriously, HOW MANY TIMES CAN SHE BE KIDNAPPED?????!!! And she STILL doesn't have many lines: she hardly speaks - even with her guys!!! Her character is so very frustrating to read.

I enjoy the attentiveness the guys show her, but d@mn her character arc needs to GROW somewhere.

I love dark, I love thrillers and I love me some supper sexy serial killers (in books only).
Ms. May has such an amazing talent of letting her words flow onto the pages and allowing the reader to get lost in this story.
I appreciate that Ellie is falling apart and keeping away from her Bestest Boy Friends Ever, she is not all trusting and questions everything. And she is scared as hell of what is going on around her but what does she do to help herself heal, goes to Self Defense class and learns to defend herself (you go girl!).
These men of hers are wrecks and totally F'd up in the head. At lease two of them are, you know who you are Zane and Ryker; we see you. But we also know that in your f'd up minds you are doing this for love and this in turn makes you more appealing and so sexy.
Ok, so now we get to who I don't trust... Fischer (sorry, not yet bud), Mr. Moreau (obviously) and Roy (mmm, douche) and I am bit iffy on the Roomies.
And now we reach the cliffhanger, Sorry Ms. May to answer your question, NOT A 5. More along the lines of a 9/10. Shock factor 100!!!

Ugh this series always leaves me feeling depressed and just low vibrational. Have only continued to read for the boys, mainly Zane and Ryker, but honestly this might be my last read of the series. As a frequent dark romance reader, I love this genre because it’s thrilling, adventurous, and entertaining…however this book is just a literal mopeathon that left me more annoyed than anything. The FMC has not failed in being cringey to me since the first book, and the plot was at such a slow crawl that this was clearly just a filler book which is so lazy to me from a reader standpoint because it shows you care more about getting extra page views then actually telling a good story. This is the first series I’ve read from this author and usually give them a 2-series minimum before I decide if I don’t like the author’s style or not, but having left this book with such an icky feeling I don’t think I’m willing to give another series a try. This was a definite 1.5 star for me but I’m rating at 3 just because I don’t like totally bombing an author’s hard work. Just praying in the future Katie learns how to balance dark with entertaining in the future.

This book has more angst than the last one, but it feels natural. After the things Ellie went through in book one, I like that she is reacting to it. She went through, and is still going through traumatic events, and she’s learning how to deal with that as well as figuring out who she can trust. The guys need a wake up call, some more than others, to see how Ellie feels about them all and how they act around her (*ahem* Dominic *ahem*). I’m really curious about everything that’s going on in the town with POP and such! Can’t wait for the next one!

I was warned that this series was a slow burn, but I have to admit that it has 100% kept my full attention. Character building is so important to me and Katie does not disappoint. I have fallen head over heels for each of Ellie’s guys. Their love, loyalty and dedication to her is over the top even though they are a group of psychos. Ellie’s character is evolving and growing and I am ready to see the badass that she will become. I can’t wait to get my hands on the third book when it releases after the cliffhanger ending of this one. I just hope the boys can get over their possessive nature and learn to share soon as I would like to see more heat levels between Ellie and her guys in the next installment. Definitely a good read, and I highly recommend for a good storyline with a plot twist at the end.

I reviewed the 1st book with a solid 3 Stars because I just couldn't fall for our leading lady. She was just so BLAH. I enjoyed the her love interest and the dynamics of them. It kept me engaged enough to get the second book. I'm still iffy about our girl but I am definitely getting a better feel of her with the added background that was missing in the 1st book.
There were some drag here and there and seems almost filler like but I kept going. The plot is great and toward the end it picks up to the point where I'm invested to see the series through. However, still even with the background and seeing our gal grow her backbone....still on the fence about her a bit. We'll see...

I would say you could almost skip the 1st book and start with 2nd and still be able to follow along with no issues.

A big kudos for the plot twist and cliffhanger ending. Totally didn't see that coming. That's the spark I was waiting for through the 1st book and most of the 2nd.

The next book is too far away. This one ended on quite the cliffhanger and it is going to be agony to wait to see what happens. This book is full of emotional angst while Ellie comes to term with what has happened to her. A little action between her and Ryker and some kissing with a couple of others. The relationships are slow to develop as the author seems to be building the plot. I would like to see more develop between Ellie and her men in a quicker manner, however I appreciate how much the author is building up the story. Surely there will be more than three stories since Ellie has five guys.

After the events of the first book I was desperate to know what happened next to Ellie after what happened with POP and The Divine One. Ellie goes through a lot of trauma and she doesn't know who to trust or believe. The 5 guys in her life have kept secrets from her and she's devastated. She goes through depression and self harming and she is also really scared of POP.
I love this series and I hope that in the next book Ellie is able to grow from all that she has experienced and get stronger. The boys are desperately trying to show her they are on her side and will protect her.
The cliffhanger at the end was wow! I was not expecting that. I have my suspicions on who the divine one is, but I can't wait for the 3rd book for answers!
