Because of the built-in mesh liner, chafing during your runs won’t be a problem anymore. The liner on these men’s running shorts also provides optimal comfort and a great deal of coverage while the elastic waistband and internal drawcord allow for a customizable fit. I’m 6’4” and 207 lbs and got the medium size which fits perfectly. Overall, the shorts feel comfortable and great for the running.

Color changing, finicky wash requirements

Bought the white pair. They fit well and it holds your phone nicely, HOWEVER - I wore these jogging 3 times and washed them after each time. They’ve turned into a putrid green/yellow. These pictures don’t do it justice, honestly.

After looking at the washing instructions, it says: wash separately and do not use fabric softener. So, buy these if you want to wash and dry them entirely by themselves. Yikes, really convenient! And environmentally friendly!

I'm rating these shorts at a "4," but they so easily could have been a "5" with a little more common sense in the manufacturing process.

As one can see from the product photos and reviews, these shorts have an inner lining akin to a form-fitting brief that is fairly long. And it's so long that, depending on your height, the length of the "brief" may extend to just above your knees, at your knees, or just below your knees -- while the hem of the shorts ends ABOVE that. Granted, that's a "style thing" -- to a point -- but sometimes it looks somewhat silly, especially if you're wearing a lighter color pair of shorts, like khaki or green (the attached "brief" lining is BLACK). Also, if you're sitting on a chair or couch, your shorts will (of course) ride way up, with the long "brief" lining exposed.

This issue could have easily been corrected by manufacturing the inner lining "brief" with a length of about 4 inches SHORTER (maybe a range of 3" to 5" shorter). That way the liner would not show during normal walking, but would at other times during different movements That aside, the shorts are comfortable to wear, and the outside material is lightweight and great.

But for the issue with the too-long length of the attached liner, I'd have rated these perfect. I still recommend them, but advise that if you're purchasing them, buy them in black (which matches the liner "brief" color) or navy -- thus making the liner hang less noticable.

Very light weight workout shorts with liner

These shorts are very light weight which is what I was looking for. The outer material dries very quickly. They have a built-in liner which is fairly thin so unlike some other shorts I've had the liner isn't too thick and warm. The one thing I don't like is the liner is too long. The shorts are fairly long too so if you are shorter like me they will go down to the top of your knees. But, its difficult to keep the liner from extending over the knee. If it wasn't for this 'flaw' I would probably give these 5 stars. I like them enough where I will probably buy another pair despite the irritant of the extremely long liner.

As for the fit, all I can say is the XL fit me perfectly. I used the size guide that said waist size 38-40 for an XL and that worked for me. As for the length of the shorts and especially the liner, I'm 5 foot, 8 inches tall. I suspect a taller person would find the length to be better though by design the liner will still protrude quite a bit further.

Love these 2-in-1 shorts. Although, I am not wild about the liner extending beyond the shorts themselves, it is not a big deal and they are very comfortable. Internal and external pockets are very convenient for the smart phone so I dont have to hold it. I supposed if I used wired headphones, it would not be useful, but for wireless headphones with bluetooth remote control, its perfect. My only suggestion is to add a spring-toggled cord lock for the drawstring for convenience over having to tie or release a knot. This can be purchased separately for minimal cost, but it would have been nice to have it already included.

Decent gym shorts, don’t use compression pocket for running

I ordered these shorts specifically for the compression liner with the built in phone pocket. The shorts (more specifically the compression pocket) are good shorts and well suited for static gym workouts but you cannot (repeat CANNOT) use the compression pocket for running or any other high tempo movement. The compression material does not hold the phone in place and the phone “bounces”/rattles it’s way out of the pocket. I even found that a brisk walk would cause the same issue.

DO NOT buys these intending to use the compression pocket as a replacement phone holder for running or any other tempo workouts.

If you just need a good pair of gym shorts and want to secure your phone in the compression liner while you’re on a bench then these are fine, but likely not worth any premium pricing.

These are great quality. And are very comfortable. My only advice would be to buy a size smaller than usual. I normally wear a large in basketball and running shorts. I'm 5'10" 180 lbs. I bought a large and they are too big. The built in boxer briefs go slightly over my knee. I should have sent them back for a medium. But that's my fault.

Really good quality shorts for a good price!

I got these for bike rides and hot yoga. They are ok for hot yoga, but not great. They really show sweat and the sweat makes them fairly see through. That is not a huge deal since they come with the black spandex-like "underwear". However, when wet you can see the front pocket distinctly since there is more fabric. Makes you look a bit dorky, which does not help if you are trying to impress the hot girls in hot yoga. Also, since I got the orange ones your beans and frank are more obvious when wet. The black version would keep it all ambiguous. The 5" seem might have also been better for yoga and maybe bike rides.

I don't write too many online reviews, but this product deserves it. I bought three pairs of these shorts in different colors. I've been wearing them for working out/running for about a month now, and these shorts are awesome! Similar style brand names can cost three times as much. Plus, these, unlike just about anything I can find online, have a pocket on the liner for a full size/plus size cell phone. This is a really great feature if you lift weights and listen to music at the same time. The pocket holds the phone securely, and works great with blue tooth ear buds. After a month or so, no wear and tear to be found on them. Great product! I hope they will start making some workout tank tops. Pudolla, if you are listening, please make some workout tank tops!

I am not a great runner but I have been running for 30+ years. 17 marathons including 3 Boston’s so comfort, fit, and material are all part of an ongoing search for the perfect shorts. In these I feel like I have found the holy grail of shorts. 2-1 minimizes chaff better than compression shorts as a separate and the material with quick dry and little weight deals very well with hot long runs. One marathon wearing them and bought a second pair - mostly because the orange is a statement although not sure of what.
