There is need. And then there is Fate...
Being destined to become some kind of supernatural electrical outlet isn’t exactly awesome—especially when Alexandria’s "other half" is everywhere she goes. Seth’s in her training room, outside her classes, and keeps showing up in her bedroom—so not cool.
Their connection does have some benefits, like staving off her nightmares of the tragic showdown with her mother, but it has no effect on what Alex feels for the forbidden, pure-blooded Aiden. Or what he will do—and sacrifice—for her.
When daimons infiltrate the Covenants and attack students, the gods send furies—lesser gods determined to eradicate any threat to the Covenants and to the gods, and that includes the Apollyon... and Alex. And if that and hordes of aether-sucking monsters didn’t blow bad enough, a mysterious threat seems willing to do anything to neutralize Seth, even if that means forcing Alex into servitude... or killing her.
When the gods are involved, some decisions can never, ever be undone.

I feel so conflicted in rating this book. I missed a bit of the action since I felt this book was more focused on the relationships between the characters. Which I can understand why it might be necessary for the story moving forward. I missed Aiden a bit in this book, I felt he was more in the background at times. To compensate there was a lot of Seth in this book and I did start to like him a bit better… but hey I am team Aiden and Alex all the way. I feel like the connection between Aiden and Alex is just on another level and I missed them. I think that is also the difference between them. Even though I can like Seth, I feel he just isn’t the perfect match for Alex. Now for the pace of the story, because I feel it was more focused on the relationships, seemed a bit off for me. That said, there is also so much that I loved about this story. The characters are so well developed and that is what made me still love the focus on the relationships. Just because these characters are so layered and you can easily identify with them. I also like where the plot/storyline is going and of course everything surrounding Greek Mythology. Definitely recommending this series and hoping for more action in the next installment!
I love this series, Greek mythology is on of my favorites themes and this story is so amazing and in this book we start to get some hints of what is going to happen and what is the big plot in this series. This is not my first time reading Covenant but now rereading some moments I get some hints and passages that I completely overlooked the first time! Specially the Oracle speech, now I get it!! And OMG she says everything!! When you know what she is talking about you totally see through the nonsense.
Pure has some major hard moments, there is a loss in this book that breaks me completely, I cry every time! Also the whole thing about forbidden feelings between Alex and Aiden gets a new and hurtful twist in this book…. There is major action too. The first half of the book is more slow and then everything starts to happen!! The last chapters were a total brain meltdown!!
Alex continues to be a super awesome bad*ss character, her way of always shoot first, ask questions later, keeps getting her in troubles, but that’s one of the reasons I like her so much! Her recklessness makes her do some problematic things and decisions, but that’s the thing, all she does, she does for a reason, most of the time because she is incapable of standing by while something wrong is happening. She gets in some major problems…she also discovers some big and important pieces of information.
Aiden in this book, has some of his most sweet moments and then has some moments when I just want to scream at him!! I get why does what he does, but come on man! Open your eyes! I always preferred Seth to Aiden, but I really like Aiden too, he is good guy and one of the few Hematoi to not view the half-bloods as less than them, he has a really good moral code and sense of what’s wrong and right, but he is not perfect either and in this book I really wanted to hit him!!!!
That being said I also wanted to hit Seth a bunch of times…..He is awesome, but he is also a big j*rk sometimes… but we do get to see a different side of him in this book, a sweet side, as he and Alex start to get closer and he starts to help her with the Apollyon training, and the connection gets stronger. He stays by Alex's side in the good and the bad, and I do believe he cares about her and Alex for him, its not the same as Aiden and Alex, its not the same feelings but they do care about each other an its not just the Apollyon connection either. At least I don’t see it like that. But there are some things about him, and some things he does that don’t add up.
There are some minor characters that get more time in this book, Laadan gets way more important, Olivia appears some more too, she and Caleb are super sweet and funny together, and Caleb is still the best friend you can ask for. Leon keeps his out of nowhere appearances and we do get to see a bit more of him too.
There is one new character that deserves special consideration for being the biggest SOB that can be, I hate Telly!!!!! And totally see behind his little scheme! An I also agree with Alex when she says that Lucian is a total fake.
Like I said, there are some hints on this book that left me worried the first time I read Covenant and continue to do so, the puzzle starts to get more clear and a big storm is coming…..
It’s an excellent continuation of the Covenant series, Jennifer delivers the right amount of action, mystery, some tough and sad parts and sweet romantic moments. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I do think Alex belongs with Aiden (even if I like Seth more) but Seth and Alex are so alike sometimes, my fav quote of the book belongs to the two of them.
“I guess there were two types o people in the world, those who sat around a fire, staring into the fames, and those who started the fire.
Seth and I started the fire, and then we danced around it.”
Shortly after the events of the last book, Alex finds herself back at the Covenant. Even though the Fall Semester has begun, she finds she is still training with Aiden and Seth. But the Daimon attacks are getting closer to the school, and after learning some unsettling news, the school goes on alert. Meanwhile, Alex must go with Seth to Council in New York, shortly after a tragic event happens to someone she loves. But in the Catskills, someone seems determined to eliminate Alex as a threat, even going as far as to kill her or worse, place her into Half-Blood servitude.
This is a really good sequel to the book, one that's addictive as I'm learning most of the author's series is. This is a good one to read after Half-Blood and it's got me hooked on the series. Look out for the book review of Deity, the third book in the series, coming soon. :)
There are quite a few typos and editing mistakes in this book. And the transitions are difficult. One paragraph will be about one day and three next week be later that day or another day. A break in there page would help a lot.
Overall though, a good second book.

It packs a punch with even more action, romance and tension than Half-Blood and helps you, as a reader, related even more strongly to the cast and the wider world. The plot is well rounded with plot twists popping up throughout to keep the book nicely paced.
There is some great character development throughout, especially for Alex who feels much more grounded and three-dimensional as this story goes on (no surprise after what happened in Half-Blood!). She’s got loads to deal with in this book, including a daimon infiltration, a deeper connection with Seth and then the whole ‘Aiden situation’. I’m a sucker for a love triangle so I was living for the tension between them. I don’t trust Seth but am 1000% team Aiden and don’t see how everything is going to work out… which is stressful haha
The ending had me reaching for Deity without thought - I need to know what happens and I need to know NOW.

Alex and some of the gang takes a trip to the catskills in new york covenant for her to be questioned in a trail by the councel members and the faces the head minister telly about the night she was taken by her mum and what idea daimons.
We get to know seth alot more in this book as him and alex train and get alot closer together, with seth helping his little apollyon in training ready for when she awakens.
Of course alot of interesting things start to come up between them.

Aiden is as sexy as ever in this book and always there keeping a eye on alex which I absolutely love, there feelings for each other deepens and new challenges arrises for them. Still fighting there feelings for each other with the rules still in place for a pure and half not being aloud to be together, seth seems to think he can slide himself in between them lol
This book was so captivating and exciting I read it in days, you get to meet new/old characters, and also gets very intriguing with the unquestionable goings on happening too. Fantastic second book can't tell you how much excitment and love I get from reading this series no matter how many times I read it i still get the magnificent feeling I got the first time I read them.

I was recommended this book by a friend, so I figured that it couldn’t hurt to give this a try. But this book only seems semi decent, so far. I think it’s a matter of the idea being alright, but the execution is very, very bad. However, my friend did also say that it gets better, so I will be reading the entire series.
Aside from plot holes and bad writing, I think my biggest issue with this series is the FMC, Alex.
📚 She’s a hypocrite.
📚 She has absolutely no self-control
📚 She’s bitchy
📚 She slut-shames
📚 She never learns
📚 She’s immature
📚 She’s selfish
📚 She’s entitled
This special little snowflake is just too damn much. I have no idea why any author would promote such bad traits. I’m sure (or hoping) that Jennifer was aiming for independent and strong willed, but it really doesn’t come across that way.
Alex’s worst fear is to be made a slave and she’s been warned that it could very well happen, if she doesn’t behave. Yet, she doesn’t behave. At all. And if it wasn’t for her relatives, it would already have happened and yet, she goes on and on about how much she hates them. My biggest fear is spiders, and I flee the room the second I eye one. I would have thought that the fear of being a slave would be worse, and I would also have thought that in order to avoid it, one would make damn well sure to walk the straight and narrow. Yet, Alex goes out of her way to break every rule and offend everyone.

Alex is one brave character. She suffers and loses so much, it's heartbreaking. Aiden is reserved and focus on what is expected of him, but there are instances when he shows his lighter side. These are the moments that I really love. Seth is self centered, but lovable. His sense of humour can be contagious. I liked getting into his head with the little piece that the author inserted at the end of this installment.
This story had me captive. It's mysterious. Action packed. Well paced. Romantic. Great characters. I look forward to reading Diety.

First off let me kick this into the works by saying how proud I am to say Pure is my first finished book of 2015. I spent the entire majority of today in my bed, skimming through this book. I read almost 200 pages. The fastest I think I have ever read in a single day. I didn't eat because of it and as a result I am so famished and I can barely keep my eyes open.
Secondly, I was a bit wary about picking up this book, mainly because the predecessor proved not to meet my expectations. This book has taught me to never judge a sequel by the first book, because, chances are, the series is just going to get better as it progresses.
I cannot put into words how much I loved this book. Jennifer has taken Gods to a whole new sexy level.
It was compacted of blood-pumping action, heartbreaking romance, sizzlingly sexy sexual tension, heartache, and by the conclusion, a cry-worthy love-triangle that you simply will not be able to make a decision on.
I do not lie in my reviews--hell, I don't lie at all. I am an honest, straight-to-the-point kind of person. And I'm assuming that if you've read my reviews of the books I didn't like, then you'll know that if I didn't like Pure, I'd just downright say it.
I swear, if you've read Half-Blood and are having doubts about picking up the sequel, pick it up! You will regret it if you don't. If I hadn't I probably would have punched myself in the face. It gets better, so much better. And it is nothing like VA.
This book is so phenomenal that when I think about it my heart clenches.
