After reading book 3, I decided to read the first two in the series. Pure Vengeance was spectacular. A sniper making crazy shots wrecks havoc in New Haven. Detective Cal Rylan's partner was wounded in the first killing. The FBI sent Special Agent Eve Sands to investigate the murder of the victim being transferred to them. The shooting continues and nothing connects them except the gun. The chemistry is strong between Cal and Eve, but they decide to table it until the case is complete. The storyline is brilliantly plotted, and the characters are well-developed. I look forward to delving into book 2. I recommend this series for those who love mystery and intrigue.

What a good book! Not only was I immediately engrossed in the story, the characters reached out to me, also. IMHO this is a really well-written book. Each chapter is short, packed with drama, little repetition and continues the story in an exciting way. Great plot twists I could not have dreamed of. The end was just as full and complete as the rest of the book, not trailing off into the mists as some do. Yes, there is adult romance but not the pornographic trash some writers serve. You probably won't be skipping page after page in this book, lol. I already have book two ready to open.

Vigilantism or Revenge?

New Haven, Connecticut. What could be better? A sexy detective meeting a hot FBI Agent and both being distracted from their work by immediate attraction for the other? Or a complex crime story with a sympathetic (maybe) villain? How about both?

Detective Cal Ryan (!) has to transport a witness to the FBI Building; what he didn't expect was for the witness to be shot and killed by a sniper bullet! Special Agent Eve Sands had been given the "crap assignment" of this witness because she wouldn't date her creepy immediate boss (oops)! Thinking "ask for forgiveness instead of permission", Eve rushed to the police station and eventually found out she was paired with Detective Ryan by her SAC to investigate the sniper shooting. Nice!

The storyline is complex with a few side stories and some real surprises. The characters are very likable. The Author, Lori Ryan, also touches on some tough subjects like workplace sexual harassment, rape, and agoraphobia. Don't miss a few hours of some very enjoyable reading!

Cal's partner is shot. Eva is FBI assigned to help find the sniper that is terrorizing New Haven. Cal likes Eva. Eva likes Cal but they're partners in this. So hunting for a Vigilante gunman with no leads throws them together for long hours of investigation when they'd rather be investigating each other. A thriller, a love story, exciting and interesting. A lot of research seems to have gone into the writing of this book. It's intelligent intriguing read. I highly recommend a for the edge of your chair reading.

Another thrilling ride of a read by this author! Cal, a police detective, and Eve, an FBI agent, meet on a task force and work together to solve a string of vigilante-type sniper homicides. As long as they worked together on the case they have to fight their escalating attraction for each other while fighting crime, but their combined intellect and past experiences make them an unbeatable couple at finding the reasons for the shootings and ultimately the sniper. Ryan knows how to do unbeatable romantic suspense !

But I'm sure that's pretty much what most detective work is really about in order to solve a case. While I prefer a little more action and suspense, I still enjoyed it. I also liked the main characters and how their relationship developed. I would probably read another in the series.
