About R. O. Lane
R. O. Lane discovered westerns in high school when he read Shane by Jack Schaefer. He so enjoyed the book, he read every work by Schaefer. He's loved hundreds of western authors, his favorites, besides Schaefer, being Louis L'Amour, Gordon D. Shirreffs, Elmore Leonard and Matt Braun.
From his base in Tucson, Arizona, R. O. has traveled all over the western states. He's lived in Nebraska, Kansas, Colorado, Utah and Arizona. Although never having lived in Texas, he has traveled the state extensively and loves its history as is evident from a number of the westerns he's written. He continues to write every day for his own pleasure and that of his readers.
R. O. has B. A. in English and an M. A. in communications research. He worked as a writer and editor for three daily newspapers and has written dozens of speeches for senior officers of three Fortune 500 corporations.
He was recently quoted in an interview as saying, "Writing has been my life, and now I'm writing the westerns that were my first love. Nobody can fully understand how tough life was in the West, or the courage it took to settle a new land with all its challenges. Those who were equal to the task were heroes and heroines, and their lives are worth remembering. I'm a romantic at heart, and I don't apologize for it. It's evident in every book I write. If you don't want romance in your westerns, well ... I hate to say it, you should probably look elsewhere."
He's also written two love stories, including the novel Air Force Brats, A Love Story and Wishin' and Waitin', a novella.
