Rafael Audible Audiobook – Unabridged
Rafael, king of the wererats, must fight to the death to defend his crown. He wants Anita Blake, one of his closest allies, with him as he faces an opponent unlike any he’s faced before. He will ask Anita to risk everything to be at his side....
But some of the wererats fear that Rafael depends too much on Anita and her ties to the vampires. They believe that there is only room in America for one supernatural king, and Rafael will turn them into nothing more than food for the bloodsuckers.
Among his enemies, a new challenger has arisen who is younger, hungrier, and has dark secrets that could destroy both the wererats and the vampires. Rafael will go into the magical heart of his people to find the power and violence that he needs to save them all, or die trying.

I do have to say, with this one and the last one at least, there is almost all story, with very little sex. I know that the series has always been extremely sexual once Anita started to have sex, the first few books she was still chaste, but then the length of the books ended up being less story, and more sex. It started to feel like there was at least 3-4 sex scenes before you hit page 50. so maybe I shouldn't complain about the length of the books, since it's now a lot more story and a lot less smut and porn. I'd gotten to the point where I started skimming through the sex scenes, feeling like that's all there was, and it didn't even enhance the books, instead it just !add them longer. The last book felt like there wasn't any sex at all, it has gone back to story, like in Guilty Pleasures. I
So yeah, I'm complaining about the book being too short for the price, but I'm also raving about the fact that the book isn't half smut/porn. Can't wait for the next full length book. Hopefully with a wedding or two in it. Which of course means it will be heavy handed again on the sex, but hopefully the story is there too .
I'll still buy anything and everything she writes, so I am a bit biased towards her and her books.

For the squeamish ones who complain that the books contain too much sex, this one doesn’t and instead focuses on the drive that Raphael needs to remain as a good king to the rodere. Links back to previous enemies and maybe not enemies - awesome read as usual and as expected by Laurell K Hamilton xxx
