Rain-X Windshield Repair Kit helps you minimize the appearance and stop the spread of chips and cracks in your windshield. It removes air from the break, fills it with durable resin and makes it even stronger than before. For best results, repairs should be made as soon as possible after the damage occurs and before the break is contaminated by dirt or water. The kit works best on round damage not more than one inch in diameter, and cracks not longer than 12 inches. It will not repair damage to more than one layer of glass.

For a first attempt, I'm really impressed with the ease of use, results, and cost.
I wasn't sure how this was going to go down. Epoxy resins are usually hard to work with but the kit supplied with the package makes the whole process really simple.
The instructions are daunting at a glance but you can break it down to these steps:
Clean you window of foreign debris
Force the resin into the crack/chip with the applicator (IN THE SHADE) (even if you make a mess by overfilling, it's OK)
Let the resin cure with the cure strip (really just a fresnel polarized lens to maximize UV light exposure)
Peel off curing sheet and scrape the glass with the blade perpendicular to the glass
Obviously you should NOT wax your window if you have a chip that you might want to repair at some future date.
I have waxed a window a few weeks after a repair without apparent negative impact to the repair.
A smooth windshield - pits are all filled,
85% filled crack - could have used a hair dryer to get better results according to the instructions.
And 60% filled long cracks - should not expect much better unless this repair is your day job.
NOTE: It is not always easy to see if cracks are filled during the repair process. A high intensity LED flashlight is pretty good from the inside of the car.
After filling 3 additional star breaks at 90% or better, I am reasonably happy with this product. I would buy it again.
FYI, this product is modeled after the Novus Windshield Repair system which has always provided a good product. Patents expired long ago.

- 3-6 drops of resin per crack never worked for me, IMHO 6 drops is a minimum. Still allows to repair multiple cracks.
- the leaflet suggest using the razor blade at 90 degrees angle against the windscreen. To me it works best when applied at low degree acute angle.
All in all - highly recommend!
I had 3 x bullseye type stone chips all just under a pound coin in size, 2 of them in drivers view and I could not stop focusing on them when driving so they had to be sorted out or the windscreen replaced.
This kit far exceeded my expectations for such a low price, the stone chips are now barely visible and no longer catch my eye when driving.
My only advice would be don't skimp on the resin, I used 6-7 drops for each chip and managed 3 repairs with some resin to spare so I think I could do 4 repairs with the kit which works out at less than £2 a chip.....billy bargain, convenient and good fun to do :-)
I'm not the best at diy, but thought for the wee chip I had in my windscreen I'd give this a go. And I was more than surprised. The small half moon shaped chip is practically invisible!! I'm so glad I decided to get this.
Application is easy, instructions within the pack are detailed. Kit has everything you need. Obviously this is designed for small chips/cracks. Anything large/severe will most likely only be helped in looking better.
The chip I was repairing was a small half moon shape, no cracks coming from it and I could feel a slight drop when I ran my fingernail across it. Sadly I do not have pictures of a before/after job. However I have had people ask if my windscreen was replaced as they were unable to identify where the chip was!
My advice would be take your time on initial set up of the suction cup device. Making sure to look from both inside and outside of the car to ensure your placement is spot on. I lightly tapped the inside of the windscreen once resin was in to ensure the resin worked it way right into the chip and to help displace any airbubbles.
As I live in Scotland and the sun wasn't playing ball I waited an hour after application with the wee plastic sheet covering the resin on my windscreen. Removed the sheet and carefully took off excess resin with the small blade provided. Looking from the inside of the windscreen it was easier to see the residual resin I had to remove.
Used my same kit again! Resin was still as good as the day I got it. Fixed 3 other areas of small chips in my windscreen. Took photos of the process for the largest one. Will add these in here, still 10/10 for this product!!
The good points are: the resin works pretty well, the razor blade works fine, the curing strips are fine, the applicator base can be accurately fitted to the windscreen.
The not so good points: the internal thread on the resin chamber isn't a great fit with the thread on the pressure driver. So basically the driver doesn't force the resin out of the chamber into the chipped windscreen. This make the applicator pretty useless,
In summary - a waste of time and money. Luckily I managed to fix my chip by relying on gravity and using the curing strips
My car failed it's MOT because the chip was a large bulseye on the drivers side straight in front of the drivers vision.
All that was left after treatment was a very tiny black mark which could have been a little piece of grit that I missed when I cleaned out the chip, but you have to look close to see it.
The job done by the repair kit was enough to satisfy the MOT tester and my MOT was granted.
Now when driving I can't see any visible marks.
So for me the kit worked, and saved me £60 that a windscreen service wanted to charge me.
I hope this helps someone out their.
Ive saved a lot of £, now that I fixed it, I dont need a replacement windscreen.
I was undecided a bit after I read all the reviews but I can say now that if you follow the steps you can fix it.
Obviously depends how big is it but Im happy that for me worth it.
I have fixed my chip in the windscreen with this.
Big Thank you!
The kit is good, I was generous with the resin solution and there is still enough left for another fix.
Note to do the procedure in the shade then move the car into the sun for the uv rays to cure the repair.
Shame it couldn’t quite get all the air out the bullseye but I wasn’t expecting it to be perfect and tbh this should be fine now for the mot.
No issues with the kit itself, it’s decent quality.
See my photos of before and after, to be fair the after photo looks better than it actually is because the naked eye can glance at different angles and highlight any flaws whereas a camera struggles to focus on clear glass let along highlight the repair but it’s actually ok and I would happily recommend this kit.
I’ve used this for 6 repairs now and I just had enough resin. Annoyingly you have to buy the complete kit to get more resin! And it’s gone up to £9-something from the £8 I payed last time.
Be sure to park in the sunlight to cure the resin, a lot of users complaining it’s not setting/hardening. It’s in the instructions.
I repaired an 8mm long crack this evening. Got quoted £160 for Autoglass to fix the crack and a bulls eye!!! Hahaha I don’t think so. This has done the job ok.
It’s still visible a bit, but least it’s sealed and moisture can’t get into the crack now come winter time.
This kit works. It’s not professional standards but if you car is a few years old then it’s fine, passes the mot without any issues.
Be careful with how tight you do the screw though, as I put a slight crack in the glass by applying too much pressure.
It passed an MOT with this so it must to the job well enough, was cheaper than the £50 insurance excess for Autoglass and has done the exact same job!
Can they actually do what says on the packet.
Well, if you read the instructions, & understand them, choose the right weather conditions & take your time, YES, they do work.
I was gobsmacked, I had 2 reasonably bad bullet hits in my screen( not from a gun), but not standard stone damage.
After 10-15mis on each application, there was only a very tiny faint mark where it had been.
I was totally amazed.
So would definitely highly recommend this product +++++
After waiting for so long for a nice sunny British weather I have finally managed to get it done. First of all I want to make it very clear that it doesn't work, I'm not sure how this has so many good reviews but it does not work.
Since I bought it, I had to wait about 2 weeks for a good weather to get it done, until then I read the instructions about 10 times, along with YouTube videos. So by the time I went and done it I already knew the steps by heart. Nevertheless, on the day that I did it, I actually read the instructions again as I was doing it. According to YouTube videos, as soon as you apply the resin, it should fill the bullseye and the crack, I went inside the car to look from the inside and it didn't do anything. Anyway, I gave the benefit of the doubt and let it dry. Still nothing. Then I removed the device, applied the additional resin and covered it with the plastic film provided. At this point the car was in direct sun light to dry. It says to leave it for 10 minutes, I left it for 30 minutes. Removed the film, scraped the resin out and voila, nothing has changed, bullseye still there along with the crack. The total area that needed covering was less than a 1 pence coin. So this product is a big no no from me.
I think it may be to do with the fairly strong curve in the windscreen, and the way the curing strips lay flat rather than following the curve. Perhaps I'll try again, and force the strip into a curve by taping it's edges down with masking tape.
Still, the kit has made the small star shaped scar from a stone less obvious and less likely to spread , and at a good price compared with a pro. repair.
