I just finished book 5 and as much as I would like to see where the characters go, I don’t want to sit through more religious guilt, stupid decisions, out of character reactions, and repetition.

OK. I’m now into multiple books in this series. I had hoped that I would see a little more growth in the character than I have. As others have said I’m a little frustrated that she’s still working for Leo and nothing has changed. Either she just really likes money and has no other moral issues except some weird infatuation issue with church…

Also what is annoying is her constant need to describe the change that she and Beast have. We don’t need to hear “pain pain pain” every single time she changes, especially when she changes multiple times in one book.

Additionally I’m annoyed at how stupid she can be. We’re supposed to be loving a strong smart alpha predator who might actually be something more than what she is and she’s never tried to go figure out the past, she barely uses Aggie One Feather, she’s never figuring out things that are so startlingly obvious to the reader that are only that because of the things she’s seen and experienced.

Then there’s this weird thing that is sitting bad with me . She has no issue with being a bad ass. Looking sexy. Kicking ass. Wearing red lipstick. But she has a problem with sex because church? But she has no problems with killing vampires? And she doesn’t tell people things because she’s trying to keep a secret and ALWAYS to the detriment of those around her, like Molly? BUT.....she’s always complains about being left in the dark???

In this book (without revealing too many spoilers) I have no idea why she didn’t just go to Evan at the very beginning. Why she didn’t seek him out to help when she first noticed there was a problem. Not only that but the one scene where Angie baby is describing a green frog with teeth I have no idea why she didn’t figure out what she was talking about, we know the kid is prescient, and WHAT ITHER THING CAN BE A GREEN FROG WITH TEETH????? Bah!! It’s one of those moments where you’re like, this character is too smart to be this stupid! What is happening???? You’re not a stupid character why did the author write you this way?

So I will finish out the series, I hope, if I can. But if she doesn’t get me smarter I will come back and amend this to probably two stars. I dislike the repetitive information on RNA and DNA and snakes and descending into the grayness and setting into the lining of the skin and pain pain pain. Repetitive, unnecessary, and it distracts from the story overall.

Please get better, I pray. I hope in the next books she grows and the author stops making her be such a complete idiot about things. She can have conflict without actually creating it for herself.

The books are getting worse. It took a while to get use to how beast talks and acts, and I can forgive the author for repeating what seems to be her favorite phrases over and over again, but this books story just was so out there. There was to much going on, to many plots, plots held together by loose strands and now we're introducing demons and angles?? Did she run out of things to write about in the supernatural world?? First only vamps and witch's were known, then were animals and with so many creatures she could have included she skips them all for Christian angles. Not only does it not make sense logically within the book but the main character is struggling with hey identity between being a Christian and native American. Her internal struggles are what makes a character relatable. You've taken away that internal fight and character development by making christianity the one "true" religion

First, i've read this series years back b4 it became audiobooks. i actually have the paperbacks.

Next, i got to book 10 before taking a break as certain MFC traits were scraping my skin raw and couldn't take it anymore.

Having said those cryptic comments, y'all this is a really good action, paranormal, mostly badass female book series.
Inconsistencies:

*how can she go toe-to-toe with Leo a couple of times AND survive, yet lesser vamps & rogues injures her so easily? autthor describes her fighting styles thru out the series. either she can fight a master vamp and not die, or she can take down lesser vamps without always getting injured!!!

* what is it with taking on unnecessary guilt? she's not in control of everyone else's actions!! the author didnt make Jane all knowing, all seeing, etc...so why have this character continually BLAME herself for what you, the author, puts out of her control? It's beyond aggravating !!! and it's CONSTANT!!

*Beast is smarter, more cognitive, (cant think of better word) after being merged with human intelligence , emotions, sense of morals, etc... and her separate soul keeps saying that Jane & Beast are better together....So, please stop with the comments...JANE IS KILLER ONLY!!! obviously, Beast by now knows that Jane as a young child didnt mean to steal her soul, as well as Jane has softer sides to her with her love for Angie Baby...So, Author, you could make it as if Beast was just pushing Jane's buttons rather than really believing and saying that all the time. This book shows that Jane loves Beast and felt lost without her when she disappeared for awhile. SO HOW DOES BEAST REALLY FEEL ABOUT JANE?

*Yes, to all of you who suspect there will be a love triangle or quadrangle, but this is not a reverse harem book! thank you Author for that at least. Yall keep going as that resolves itself.

To Amazon......please give a better rating system!!! there needs to be a way we can do half points and it needs to go up to 10, not just 5.

For yall that like Audiobooks.....the narrator for this series, Khristine Hvam is freakin awesome. she can put you right there in the action, her tone, her pacing of the story, her giving each character their own voice, man she 's just really, really, good at this!! There are about 5 narrators that i love so much that i continually check for other books they've narrated and have bot just because i know it's them and the genre is my thing....

oh and wouldnt it be nice if we could do emoji when talking in these reviews? if there's a way to do it, i dont know it! but i would totally put a smiling and a wink emoji on the above sentence.

I read the hardback years ago, so this time, I bought the Kindle and Audible versions, and then listened to narrator Khristine Hvam voice-act the characters. I especially love Khristine’s Southern drawls, which I can never imagine whilst reading a book.

Protagonist Jane Yellowrock—a security specialist, vampire killer, and Cherokee skinwalker—has returned to her home city of Asheville, NC on a dangerous, high-profile job. I like the fully developed characters—humans, vampires, weres, witches, and shapeshifters—that leap off the page when Khristine Hvam voice-acts. I especially like young Angie-Baby and her guardian angel, Hayyel, and of course, Beast.

Excellent re-read/listen.

I have now read the first 4 books in two days - and am about to start the 5th. It’s rare for a series to get better and better, but Jane Yellowrock’s story is compelling, fast-paced and full of twists and turns. She has the complexity of so many good heroines, Cat Crawfield, Mercedes Thompson, Kate Daniels, Anna Cornick to name but a few. And Beast is a genuine delight and a fresh perspective and voice on a soul companion. Cannot wait to see where the series will go next!

Jane Yellowrock has been a great series, violent, intriguing and even a little sexy but not enough to shock the prude called Susan on another book's review. It'll be good to see how the twist of her 'skinwalker' identity becoming common knowledge will shape and twist future books. I woud recommend this for fantasty readers and anyone who just likes good ol' fashioned s+×÷ kicking violence in a book where no real people are taking ANY injuries!

I've enjoyed this series more with each book. I wasn't entirely sure about it for the first couple of books, I found her quite hard to like and some of her angst around the choices she'd made didn't really ring true given that she didn't walk away from what she was doing. However, with each book she seems to have become warmer and more human. Definitely a series worth reading for anyone who likes a genuinely strong female lead.

I struggle to find good reads in this genre, there's a lot of cliched, predictable moralising rubbish out there unfortunately, this one however shows a good level of originality, is well written and even better the main character doesn't suddenly jump out of character to leap into bed with the first hot male that comes along. The plot twists and turns keep things interesting and the characters are well created, definitely worth a read.
