If all the above makes no sense to you, let me just invite you too once again visit the many unique and immersive milieus of Glynn Stewart. His universe building is fastasic and this series has grown from the first in the series, which I had to star three times to make it to the conclusion, to my favorite among his current series. As is the nature with of established series, the outcome is rarely in doubt. The “good” protagonists will prevail, although the price may be high, and return to fight again. It is the journey that makes the story and Raven’s Course makes that journey in a way that will stay with any reader dedicated enough to immerse the storyline long after it is finished.
Safe to say, although the ship(s) and staff may change, Henry and Sylvia will be back to pick up the pieces and continue their work to bring peace to the Ra Sector.
Captain Wong and Ambassador Todorovich once again find themselves between the LaTar Cluster and the Kozun. When a peace negotiation brokered by the Drifters goes horribly sideways, questions eventually arise as to who the real enemy is and why.
We also get our first good look into the Drifter’s society and technology.
An excellent installment in this series. I’m looking forward to the next book.
I received an ARC for my review and enjoyed the book enough to purchase my own copy.
I do not want to give anything away about Raven's Course as I would prefer the reader to experience everything fresh to get the full impact and appreciate the subtle twists in the story line. I have read the book several times, and gain more appreciation of the nuances of each character every time I've read the story.
I just hope there is at least a forth book in the story line.... Think of the word payback... I know I am looking forward with great anticipation to the next installment..
A Disclaimer: I AM a member of the authors advanced reader group and received an Advanced Reader Copy of the story. All my comments are my own!
In this book, we are shown again that Humanity does have the edge in technology (in some areas) but not so much that we handily win. Victory requires proper application of intelligence and strategy, which seems to be concentrated in Henry Wong. He again saves the day and his crew through his brilliance and does something in this book he hadn't expected to ever have to do again (I saw that coming, but the author didn't make it obvious). If there's anything to fault the author so far, it's that we have too few characters with this much potential. Though the concluding scenes seem to indicate his senior officers are very good and will shine once they're not eclipsed by him. We'll see.
Unlike in the Castle Federation universe, in this one the author has left quite few mysteries for us, allowing for future expansion of the series. We've so far focused on the sectors closest to our own neck of the woods and the Drifters, but the first book made it very clear that there is a lot more, with far more unknowns. There are clear problems to be investigated in the next story arc, like who's really out against humanity, but even after that is solved there'll be more.
I can't wait for the next story arc. And the one after that.
If you liked book 2 get book 3.
If you haven't yet go back and start from book 1.
If you didn't like it don't waist time reading reviews.
I liked this book enough to have purchased it both on Patreon and from Amazon.
Cool tech and a lot of twists and turns with good folks trying their best in high stakes situations.
Getting real about the long game for being active in our world. Not just a blow stuff up and roll on philosophy.
I hope you enjoy this book!
This book is a roller coaster ride and once again Glynn gives a good look at one possible future.
While I did receive an advanced copy of this book for an honest review I also purchased a copy for myself.
